My family and I are in the process of moving and have been staying in this hotel for approximately one week. The facility in and of itself is not that bad, however.... During our stay, we have run into a plethora of problems. Almost immediately, we noticed the odor of smoke and cigarettes overpowering all of the other smells in the common areas (probably from the smoking rooms). One particular evening, after coming into my room after working 11 hours, we noticed that there was not an actual blanket or comforter in the unit we were staying in. At approximately 11:30 PM, I called the front desk to inform them of the situation and to see if I could run down to the lobby to pick up an extra blanket. I did not want to have to worry about my fiancee and 6-month-old child being cold. Upon calling the front desk, I was told that they did not have any extra blankets or towels for other rooms. They had suggested that the only way to remedy the situation was to actually pack up all of our belongings, wake up my son, and relocate to another room because they originally claimed that they could not just get a blanket from a spare, unfilled unit. They had informed me that in compensation of the inconvenience of the move, I would receive a slightly lower rate. Despite being promised a lower rate, I was still charged the original rate that was agreed upon when I first booked the room and was told that I would be reimbursed on Monday, The employee managing the desk then had me come down to the lobby to sign a document stating the agreed rate and the amount that was to be reimbursed on 11/28/2016 upon having a brief conversation with the owner, Vic Patel. Today, I had the unfortunate experience of speaking with Mr. Patel. He first accused me of lying and then came back and told me that he would refuse to do anything about the rate despite what his employee promised. I have never been in a situation where I have felt that I have dealt with such a dishonest hotel. I have stayed here longer than a week, and the amount that I was talked down to agreeing to was less than $10 a night. Between the smoke laden facility, unprofessional and dishonest owner, uninformed staff, and inability of the cleaning staff... I will never stay in this hotel again. All of this could have been avoided if the cleaning staff had actually fulfilled their duty, but instead I have been lied to and mislead. I have been accused of being a liar despite the fact that there is a document that I personally signed regarding this situation. Vic Patel is a joke of an owner and any person with an ounce of self-respect or dignity deserves better than to be treated with the blatant disregard that my family and I have experienced. Stay far away from this place, spend a couple bucks more and stay in a place where you won't be treated like a con artist. I have never been so disrespected in a hotel and I will never stay in this hotel or any of it's affiliates...
Read moreWe only stayed here out of desperation because of the ice on the roads. We had been trapped in our car on 75N for over 5 hours. All other hotels were full. We wish we had just slept in our car for a few hours and froze because the room was worse. It was dirty- drywall pieces and paint chips on the floor, dusty, animal hair on the sketchy carpet. My white socks turned black. I don't believe the room had actually been serviced besides the beds being made. There were no tissues refilled in the dispenser and the small shampoo amenity bottle was opened and used by someone who was previously checked into our room. The table was broken. The "queen" beds felt more like full size or large twins. The bed was barely big enough for us and we're both thin and under 6ft. We had to crank the heat all the way up and we still froze half to death because of a half inch gap around the bottom half of the door. Putting a towel down to block the bottom didn't help because the side also had a gap. It was -2° outside. The two sheets we had for blankets didn't keep us warm. I have asthma and another medical condition that is triggered by the cold that can cause my body to react the way it would if I was having an allergic reaction. It was hard to breathe and my body was covered in hives. I was terrified I'd asphyxiate from an asthma attack or go into full anaphylaxis. We couldn't stand to be there for more than 4 hours. It was a waste of $100. The overall feeling of the room was, 'there are definitely hidden cameras in this room.' I told my husband, "I'm not changing in here & I'm not showering either" to which he responded with, "No, and neither am I." I felt like I had just walked into an episode of SVU. We checked for bedbug's immediately but thankfully didn't find any. We were going to grab breakfast because they had signs and ads for free breakfast but they didn't actually have it. They had the dining area and buffet set up but no food was ever served, so we just went to our room and tried to rest. My husband said the lady at the front desk was nice but it was obvious she had been chain-smoking every day for the last 40 years. Some unkempt redneck guy asked if he wanted a receipt as he walked by him but my husband wasn't sure if that guy worked there because he was just hanging out by a window in overalls. I highly recommend going anywhere else. They claim to be a 2 star hotel but they are definitely a negative star hotel. Never again will we stay at this location or any...
Read morePlace is run down. Just about everything needs to be retouched. Trash all over the perimeter of the property. So much needs to be painted. Main front door into room 118 does not close right, even when close there is no seal around the door. There is at least a 3/8" gap or more on the bottom of the door. Add to it the door that separates the 2 rooms and that one is not closed right. Does not give you a secure feeling. Carpet in room needs to go. No good hotel has carpet. I stayed at the Econo Lodge on the reverse side of my trip and the room had NEW vinyl plank flooring, had a great TV that worked. The big thing is the room has been updated and money spent. And guess what there room was $59 a night which there advertised price showed that. NOT Super 8 they advertised $59 a night, but NO its $79. Remember this is for 1 person. And then there was the fee for the dog Super 8 charged $10 extra per night and Econo Lodge charged $15. Again overall Econo Lodge is still cheaper by $15 per night for a much better overall experience. Bottom line Super 8 was old, distressed, looks like NO one is interested in putting the million or more it would take to fix it. My room in addition to the door issues, carpet issues, condition of bathroom fixtures and a TV I COULD not use, all because there was no remote. An burnt out light bulbs in my room, How does this happen?? Is there not a room checklist?? Again no surprise because it appears they aren't putting money in anything. All the signs are rusted and need paint, buildings on the exterior have maintenance issues, the hallways are in rough shape. The sad thing is I could go on and on about what's wrong with buildings and the grounds. The list would be extensive. My background comes from being responsible for 9 large super size retail stores that do on average 1.1 BILlION DOllARS a year in sales. Without exception our buildings both inside and out had to be well maintained at all times. The land was included. This is with out exception. Just seems like at Super 8 there leadership has no direction, guidance and the local owners and managers have no desire on there own to run the business the way they know how its supposed to be run. Just like they hopefully do at there own home. I'm available to walk with someone and help make a plan on what should get done first and so on. Bottom line Econo Lodge wins...
