FairBridge Inn & Suites East of Cleveland — Hotel in Willoughby Hills

I booked my room online for $67 for the first night, and the room was on the 1st floor. The room was actually decent, sheets were clean. Floor wasn't dirty, the shower was big due to it being handicap accessible. I was able to see my car from the window with no issue. On my first night of checking in, the staff was friendly and helpful. On the first night I noticed a heavy police presence, at least 4 within 3 hrs. There was was $60 deposit, which I paid in cash. Upon check out, funds are refunded back if there were no damages and or issues as a guest. Overall, You get what you pay for! I did enjoy my stay and had no real issues this night, the sheets/blanket and pillows were clean. The only real issue I had was the WIFI wouldn't work, so I just used my hotspot!

The first night went well, so I decided to get another room for a second night. I book it online again and paid $67. When I arrived the staff was again friendly and check in was no issue, but this time I was on the 4th floor. The 4th floor was completely different, and I can see where some of the reviewers complain about it being dirty, nasty and filthy, that room was! The police presence was as heavy as the night/day before. There was water leaking from the upstairs into the bathroom, which im sure has mold somewhere which the eye can't see. The sheets and blankets were nasty, I didn't feel comfortable walking around with bare feet or even socks. The walls were a little dirty and there was trash and ash all along the wall and under the bed. I was so surprised being that the first stay was good with no issues. I'm a nonsmoker and they gave me smoking and it smelled horrible but again, I have seen and smelled worse.

Overall, you get what you pay for. In this case, the first night was better than the second, which leads me to believe some rooms are just better or updated more than others. I can see where other reviewers complaints and agree to a degree. If all the rooms were In the same care as the first one I stayed in, there would be better reviews and less complaints. Surprisingly, the WIFI worked perfectly, so I guess that was the pro to that. I think the prices here are decent, the staff was nice each time. Only writing this to tell you to listen to the bad reviews. I thought "oh people are being dramatic it can't be THAT bad." It was. First we arrived an hour before check-in so figured we'd see if they have a room, as I've never had a problem elsewhere being just an hour early. The lady at the desk simply told me no, check-in isn't until 3pm. I jokingly told my fiancee that's probably when she's off shift and didn't want the extra work. Sure enough we come back at 3pm and she's walking out the door.

Anyway check-in process was smooth and easy. They only charge $60 when I usually expect a $100 hold.

Get to the room and the door swings into a random mini fridge in the middle of the room, startling my fiancee to jump back and have the very janky ironing board fall on him. We later find another mini fridge inside the dresser area (neither of them were cold btw). I go on to inspect the room for bed bugs because of the reviews on here. I didn't do a deep dive because we were just stopping in and on our way out to a show. I did find a hair on one of the beds.

So we go to the show and come back around 12am midnight, hang out and unwind. Something prompts me to check the beds before going to sleep and I found a bed bug on the head board. Immediately freak out, it's 130am at this point. My fiance and I had never experienced this in our lives and contemplate sleeping in the car (quickly realize that's dumb it's 15° outside).

We packed up and went downstairs. There was another couple waiting for the desk person who they said disappeared after they asked him for something. He showed up about 10 mins later with their pillows. I then go up and explain what happened, and he was the only positive thing to come of this nightmare. He didn't really seem surprised or to care, but he did tell me to call Expedia for a refund and he would authorize it for me. So then we leave and find a reputable hotel nearby at 2am 🤦‍♀️

If you've read this far the moral of the story is just listen to the reviews when it comes to hotels where you're laying your head. Other reviews were valid as our experience too (everything falling apart, random screws on the windowsill from people trying to open the window, not a single surface had been dusted in weeks, elevator & our floor/room reeked of cigarettes and old weed). Just spend the extra $25 for a chain and don't stay...

This place is not friendly anything! ROOM LOOKED OK AT FIRST SIGHT. WE WENT TO GIVE OUR 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER A BATH AND THE TUB DRAIN WAS CLOGGED. MY GIRLFRIEND ACTUALLY WENT TO SCRUB IT OUT FIRST, BECAUSE IT WAS FILTHY, SHE USED THE SHOWER HEAD SO YOU COULDN'T REALLY TELL IT WAS CLOGGED. WENT TO FILL THE TUB AFTER CLEANING AND PUT THE BABY IN AND BLACK LONG HAIR STARTED TANGLING AROUND HER LEG. SHE WAS FURIOUS. QUICKLY GOT THE BABY OUT OF THAT NASTY TUB. TOO SEE SOME STRANGERS HAIR AROUND YOUR CHILDS LEGS WHEN YOU DONT EXPECT SOMETHING LIKE THAT CAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO A 3.5 STAR HOTEL, THAT WAS FAULSY ADVERTISED, OBVIOUSLY, JUST MAKES YOU SICK TO YOUR STOMACH AND VERY ANGRY. NOW WE JUST WANTED A LITTLE TIME AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND IT WAS GETTING LATE. AFTER CALLING DIFFERENT ESTABLISHMENTS FROM ASHTABULA TO CLEVELAND OHIO LOOKING FOR A JACUZZI SUITE AND INDOOR POOL, WE GAVE UP AND SETTLED FOR FAIRBRIDGE HOTEL.😫 PICTURES POSTED ARE NOT WHAT WE WERE PRESENTED WITH. THE PLACE REAKED OF MARIJUANA (4TH FLOOR ACTUALLY). THE FREE BREAKFAST WAS BREAD AND A WAFFLE MAKER THAT DOESN'T MAKE A SOUND WHEN DONE. CANT FORGET THE CEREAL. HORRIBLE CARDBOARD TASTING REGULAR FLAKES, NOT FROSTED, NOT EVEN BRAN FLAKES. NO CEREAL A 4 YEAR OLD CHILD WOULD EAT. AND YOU COULDN'T TAKE ANYTHING, NO FOOD, THAT YOUR CHILD DIDN'T WANT TO FINISH, OUT OF THAT AREA. YOU HAD TO THROW AWAY THE WAFFLE YOU WAITED 5 TO TEN MINUTES TO EVEN MAKE. WHILE BEING WATCHED UNCOMFORTABLY BY STAFF. THIS WAS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING HOTEL STAY WE EVER HAD. THE ROOM HAD BURNHOLES IN THE BLANKET AND COUCH BED. THIS IS NOT A 3 STAR NOR A 2 STAR HOTEL. MAY QUALIFY AS A 1 STAR MOTEL. NOW I WILL SAY IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO SLEEP AND WAKING UP TO LEAVE OR NEED A PLACE TO PARTY THIS IS THE SPOT. OTHER THAN THAT DONT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE FOR FUN.DONT EXPECT FRIENDLY STAFF BECAUSE THEY TREAT YOU LIKE YOU ARE SCUM. EXCEPT THE WHITE BLONDE CLEANING LADY SHE WAS SWEET AND INFORMATIVE.
