First of all, let me say that we've travelled and stayed in just about every type of hotel-motel-hostel, from 5 star or 0 star around the planet...and have learned to adapt and adjust without complaining; depending on where we're at. Now we'll discuss Winnemucca: this is a desert city in Nevada, not Times Square...but not a third world country either. Nobody in the 21st century should ever have to stay at a place like this and actually pay for it within the borders of the U.S.. No air, but the windows wouldn't open (the hardware was removed). We left the door open to get a breeze, and a stray dog ran in and jumped on the bed with my kids. Hole in the bathroom floor was covered by a moldy rug and fixtures under the sink leaked. The pool was a disaster. ||We stop in that city often, and decided to try one of the older "retro" motels on the Blvd...horrible move, and no chance for a refund after looking at the room.||Bright side to all of this is that it has become a 'legend' in comic story telling about some of our adventures: the best being the 2 'western' paintings hanging in the room that someone had 'altered' with a black marker (probably years before we were there). One of them displayed a scene of a cowboy riding a horse, with the new addition of a noose around his neck connected to the tree. The other was equally worthy. Thanks for the memories, Frontier!!! We always laugh...
Read moreArrived late and the outside looked not bad in the dark and the rain. We wanted to be close to our friends in the campground. We looked at room first and just glanced in the bathroom and decided to stay. However, when we were unpacking and went into the bathroom we were wading in water. The roof was leaking and falling down, the whole floor was wet. Went back to the desk to request another room. This room was the same grunge as the other one. The shower doors in this place are rusty and crusty with scale probably dating back to the 50's. The tiles in yellow and blue give you an idea how old this place is. There have been no upgrades to date. The floor is filthy and we chose not to shower for fear of catching something. The electrical was something else with exposed lights and no covers, there was red/ purple stuff splattered all over the walls either from kids or Blood? There were holes in the sheets and we put a chair under the loose door knob (which looked like it had been broken into numerous times) as a door lock. Next morning on our scramble to get out of there, the woman in charge seen us and asked how our night was. We replied that their place has won the award for the grungiest place we have ever stayed in and she ran into the office. (We left before she came back out...
Read moreI just needed two beds for my wife and two kids... Just to sleep in for the night on our way to Tahoe. The lady at the front desk asked me if I wanted to see the room first, I thought that was odd, but said "nope, don't care...I just need a place to sleep". I thought how bad could it be? Omg....I am seriously at a loss for words. Please read all the other reviews left here before staying here!! Funny thing is.... Most of those reviews were left over 3 years ago...so... imagine those descriptions...and then imagine no improvements made for 3 years...and then imagine what the rooms look like now!!! The pillows on our bed, which should have been thrown out decades ago.... didn't even have pillow cases on them!!!??? When we asked for pillow cases...we were handed mismatched pillow cases...and mine had a large mysterious brown stain on it!!! Wtf??? I would going to detail about the rest of the room but if you read through the reviews, collectively...they tell an extremely accurate story!! Except for the one person who may have grown up in a condemned and abandoned crack house...who rated this place as "very good"....I would ignore...
