This was the strangest and worst customer service I have ever had at any restaurant, anywhere.
Although we were in town for the eclipse, like many other visitors, this pizzeria was not busy at all. We arrived at 12:39 PM on Saturday, 10/24/23. There were only two (later four) other small groups dining there, in a restaurant that could seat at least 100. Three waitresses were on staff at the time. So we were optimistic that we would get our hungry kids fed and then get to our next destination. We sat outside.
Our waitress, a 20-something woman with a light complexion and dark hair, had to take our food order three times because she kept forgetting it. That was a little odd. She said she was not having a good day.
At 1:23, 45 minutes after we arrived, not even our appetizers (garlic knots and bruschetta) had shown up. I went to find our waitress and politely asked when we might expect our food to be coming out. She replied, rather curtly, that it was normal for orders to take "20-30 minutes." "It has been a little longer than that," I said. "No it hasn't," she said. OK, geez.
In the meantime, our waitress brought us refills of all our huge sodas without asking us. I assume she was trying to be generous, but I didn't actually want my kids each drinking TWO giant lemonades and TWO cokes and so on. So I said "Oh, no thank you, we don't need refills." "But you asked for them," she said. Uh....
A little later, another member of our party overheard the staff saying something about a problem with the oven that was slowing things down. However, the staff didn't proactively tell us that, or even admit it. We just overheard it when we were on the way to the restroom.
Finally, after over an hour, we got our food. The waitress plonked it down without saying anything (not even "Here you go," and left as quickly as possible. She then avoided us, not stopping by to ask how it was or if we needed anything. Once again, the restaurant was NOT busy - only four other tables were occupied, and there were two other servers.
The food was fine, nothing special. (Don't order the bruschetta; it is pretty much just a giant pile of raw onions on top of a pizza crust.) The garlic knots were nice. The pizza toppings were unevenly distributed, and everything was too salty. Oh well, whatever! It was good enough.
My kids were very excited to order the "Cookie Monster" ice cream sandwich, so when I FINALLY glimpsed our waitress again (who had been avoiding us like the plague), I called out "Oh hello, excuse me! Could we order dessert?" Instead of responding, she started walking away faster.
"Excuse me," I called one more time, hoping to catch her before she disappeared. She spun on her heel, walked up to our table, and said "I'm going to have to ask you all to leave. You have been very rude. I'll comp your meals, but you just need to go. Now." Then she left without further explanation.
My brother and I were flabbergasted. Nothing like this had ever happened to us before. The kids were just being regular kids, not overly loud or messy. All I had done is ask when our food was going to be ready (after 45 minutes) and ask to order dessert (after 90 minutes).
At a loss for what to do, I asked one of the other waitresses if I could have a second opinion. She (a young teenager) wasn't sure what to say, so she got the third and final waitress, a blond 30-ish woman. This waitress explained that the three of them were running the restaurant alone today, with the manager out of town, so there was no one else to talk to.
"I feel really bad leaving without paying," I said. "I truly don't understand why your colleague asked us to leave. Can I at least leave a tip or something?" Waitress 3 was just as baffled as I was, so I left the cash that I had (a couple of $20s) as a "tip," and we all departed.
Well, it was a... memorable experience. But this is not a well-run restaurant, and I will not be going back here again (at least not until I hear it is under new...
Read moreWe must have been there on a bad night or something. Pretty disappointing to say the least. I don't typically leave a negative review but we definitely won't be back. We waited for close to an hour for our pizza while others who arrived after us were receiving their food. The garlic knots were burnt, and I had to force myself to eat them (and I am as far from a picky eater as you can get). After waiting for about 45 minutes after ordering we were told our food would be out any minute. About ten minutes later we were told that our food had been accidentally given away as a carry out order and it would be another ten minutes. We considered walking out at this point but decided to stay as our four small kids were starving and we had 5 more hours of driving ahead of us. The pizza came in another 5 or 6 minutes. Pizza was average at best. Thin, stale crust similar to what you would get from a frozen pizza. My wife didn't even finish one slice and she was starving.
I understand that accidents happen but nothing was offered to compensate for the inconveniences. Our server was pretty good but seemed very busy and overworked covering the bar, carry out orders and several tables. Another server seemed more interested in hanging out with and sitting down with her husband/boyfriend then waiting tables.
The decor and all seemed nice. The place was clean for the most part. Those are the only...
Read moreI am SO GLAD my son told me about this place! I'm fairly certain they have the best pizza I've ever eaten, including my own homemade stuff. They offer some really unique flavor combinations that taste REALLY GOOD, although for this trip we grabbed the BLT (which comes with its shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes in a separate box, A+) and the Perfect Pepperoni. Next trip I'm going to try the Butch Cassidy!
The service is excellent - very friendly, very competent, and very honest - they even took the time to warn me that a traditional menu item (wings) were cooked differently there than at most places because they didn't want us to buy food we wouldn't enjoy. Let me add here that the wings are amazing - their wing sauce is completely different than any other I have tasted, somehow sweet and spicy both without being overwhelming or gross. Again, A+!
The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is great, too. They offer seating at a long, roomy bar area, or at tables and chairs inside with enough seating for small or party-sized groups. Their patio area is expansive as well, and the decor is fun and inviting, the kind of 'Wild West' stuff common to our area of Nevada but also with some cute and humorous signs interspersed throughout.
I can't wait to drop more $ at this place again, absolutely worth every...
