The Yachats shore is one of the best, most dramatic, and ever-changing in Oregon. We've been there in all seasons, from warm summer days when we watched gray whales come in close to the rocky shore to feed, to January when we enjoyed watching storm surf and drinking hot tea or coffee and slurping down Luna Sea's superb Slumgullion (seafood chowder). The local folks are friendly, artistic, quirky and generous, so strike up a conversation with them. There are nice motels, cottage rentals, and an upscale hotel, as well as the lower-priced budget motels, so something for everyone. Lots of good restaurants. Try them all! You will become as hooked on...

Read moreFantastic views any direction you look. Big area for kids to run around and added bonus are the tide pools. Has a viewing deck a few steps up from the ground and paths to go down to the rocks and tide pools. Weather was good that day except was a little windy. I think the bathrooms were open but check first the OPRD list that will tell you what is open and what is closed. All the people that I saw were enjoying themselves and digs chasing balls and running in and out of the water. Didn't see any whale spouts but really enjoyed watching the brown pelicans diving for food. Area is clean and looks to be well maintained. Another fabulous scene of the ocean and the river that drains into it. Definitely one spot that is well worth the time taken...
