A Welcome Tide at The Whale Tale Cafe
The recent transformation of the familiar seaside landmark into "The Whale Tale" Cafe has proven to be a remarkably smooth and welcome transition. Stepping inside, one is immediately struck by a palpable sense of care and attention, extending beyond a mere cosmetic refresh. The establishment gleams! It was nice to feel the new ownership's commitment to creating a truly inviting space. Our recent visit was a delightful experience from start to finish. The menu, while honoring some beloved staples of its predecessor, also introduces fresh and inspired dishes that tantalize the palate. The food itself was nothing short of excellent – each plate a testament to quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The clam chowder! Every bite was a genuine pleasure. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, the service was equally noteworthy. Attentive without being intrusive, our server raidated genuine warmth. We had the distinct pleasure of meeting the new family proprietors, whose passion for their venture and for becoming an integral part of our community warmed my heart. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and their clear respect for the history and significance of this location is so respctful and sweet. It's evident that they are not simply taking over a business; they are embracing a legacy and nurturing it with a fresh perspective. Leaving The Whale Tale Cafe, we felt a genuine sense of optimism. It's more than just a new restaurant; it's a promising addition to our town, helmed by a dedicated family who clearly values both culinary excellence and community spirit. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit. Introduce yourself. Extend a warm welcome to our new community members! If this is an indication, The Whale Tale Cafe has a phenomenal...
Read moreHad a late afternoon lunch there after looking at some of the price gouging around the other places, that had good overall reviews, but mixed as of recently and also the place was recommended by the nice lady at the register at the convenience store / grocery market nearby.
I got the fried cod and chips with coleslaw, and it was the perfect amount of food for a reasonable price, and it was a very clean, nice open space with a nautical theme.
The server was a younger gentleman who was friendly, and a waitress gave me a nice smile as she passed, so it was very welcoming. I would definitely return.
I looked at the previous review by Liam Dodge before I went, and it almost scared me off, but upon further review.. what a judgmental and nasty review and unkind thing to say to a restaurant- especially a new one, and especially to write that the server was "strange" and to criticize the waitress for making a simple human mistake - no one's perfect.
Maybe that server was nervous and trying a new job - how about showing a little grace and gratitude, especially for having to serve rude entitled people like you.
Grace and gratitude are sorely lacking in society nowadays with some people, and this Liam Grace person is a sad example of what happens when you act like an...
Read moreMy mom and I went wandering through Yachats and didn’t want to rely on any reviews. I saw “Leroy’s Blue Whale” restaurant and figured we’d give it a try. It was 5pm on a Sunday and seating was ample. We took a table in the sunshine to enjoy the warmth and pulled the shades down just a bit while still enjoying some ocean view. The server greeted us and we ordered drinks (beer, wine, and ice waters) while discussing how the ownership had just changed over in the last month. I didn’t get her name but she is part owner with her parents and very friendly. We ordered grilled halibut, a cod sandwich, cups of clam chowder, and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! Service was top notch and it was fun to hear the future dreams the owners have for the restaurant and bar. The clam chowder is also gluten free since it is thickened with cheese. Highly recommend dropping by for a classic diner experience. We’ll be back to try their...
