Called C.C. and made a reservation for Thursday last week. Requested 1st floor room only! as I am recovering from shoulder surgery. This place has no elevator and only stairs to the 2nd & 3rd floors. Also told her I would be arriving late, by midnight. All good so far. Arrived at hotel at 11:30 pm tired after driving for a long time. Spoke to the clerk and she stated all of the 1st floor rooms were full. I said there must be a mistake as I reserved a ground floor room. After some prodding, she said there was 1 lower floor room left, but that people were in there for just a few minutes because the people next door had younger kids and were noisy. Whew.. thought I was going to have to lug all the bags up stairs. Get to the room and it smelled of food and alcohol, the beds had be "used". We returned to the counter to speak to the clerk again. Told her the room had been used and was not acceptable. She says sorry, I don't have any 1st floor rooms left. I felt I was in an old Seinfeld episode... I then explained to her that is the purpose of a reservation, you hold the room until I get there. She really does't care, I can tell by her tone and facial expressions. I then ask, if we have to lug the bags upstairs and because you have given my room to someone else, can we receive a discount? She says no and I can talk with the Manager, he will be in next week she says. I then tell her are you sure? I would prefer to give you a positive review online and not a negative one.. She didn't care at this point. Needless to say I went across the street to the Baymont Suites & Inn and got a 1st floor room at a lower rate!!! Now you choose where you want to stay... I encourage the Manager to call me, my info is in your system....YOUR STAFF LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND NEEDS TRAINING ON HOW TO MAKE A...
Read moreI traveled all the way from my homeland in Indonesia to visit this charming hotel, and let me tell you—it was an amazing experience from start to finish.
We arrived right on time at 3:00 PM for check-in, excited to explore the shopping and tourist attractions nearby. The moment we walked into the lobby, we were greeted by a delightful surprise: refreshing infused lemon water and freshly baked cookies. The cookies were so delicious they crumbled perfectly in our hands—my only regret was not having a cold glass of milk to go with them!
Check-in was smooth and efficient, handled by a friendly and informative staff member who took the time to share details about local events and attractions. The hotel had a vibrant energy—the pool was full of life, and the staff were clearly working hard to keep everything spotless. Even the maintenance man greeted us with a warm smile as we headed to our room.
Once inside, we instantly felt at home. The room was clean, spacious, and offered a breathtaking view of the Greenhorn Mountain Range. After settling in, we ventured across the street to Taco Bell for a quick bite (four Taco Supremes!) and then made a stop at the Valero liquor store for drinks. (Pro tip: if you use the restroom at Valero, there’s a five-minute time limit—don’t linger!)
Back at the hotel, we sipped our brown-bag beverages while watching a spectacular golden hour sunset over the mountains. At that moment, we realized we’d found the perfect holiday destination. It felt like an affordable Aspen, Colorado—with a cozy small-town vibe that made us feel truly welcome.
I don’t know when I’ll be back in Yreka, but one thing is for sure: if I return, I’ll absolutely be staying at The Comfort Inn again. A truly unforgettable...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the parking lot was blocked off by yellow caution tape affixed to a trash can and ash trays, including the area where you would park to check in. The manager had been sealing the parking lot herself. She told us to park in the striped area between two handicap spots and assured us the police never come by there. We didn't because it is illegal, and there definitely was not enough room. She moved the caution tape and let us park near the front, which was appreciated. My husband is going through cancer treatment and isn't able to walk far or exert much energy. They weren't sure if the room would be clean, but went up to check. We appreciated that, but why wouldn't you be confident in the cleanliness of your rooms? There was no elevator. The manager and front desk clerk helped us carry suitcases upstairs, which was kind of them. The TV didn't work. When I called the front desk, they didn't answer the first time. When I called again, the person answered the phone tersely and said she was busy working on someone else's TV, but she'd come in to our room later. At this point it was late and we had already changed and didn't want a visitor who was not likely to fix the issue as it seemed more system-wide. Overall, they're trying, but don't realize how unprofessional they come across. Also, this hotel was in a bad location and area, which was not discernible when reserving online. This stay made me want to avoid the Comfort Inn brand...
