I feel bad about giving a bad review, but I don't want anyone going through what we just did. I have been in the Autozone Yreka store 5 times for our ball joints. We have to drive a good 45 minuets each way. I picked up a bunch of parts and other stuff on Friday as things have worn out and we had time to get it do. My husband and a friend got all we needed done other than the ball joints on Saturday and everything went smoothly. Then our luck went south and we had to return because the rental tool didn't work because he didn't get the 4 wheel drive adapter kit or even know one was needed . My husband asked to check the parts (BALL JOINTS) he bought on Friday bef6 we left to installed them just for good measure. The parts guy did and said all was good. We drove home (borrowed vehical, we only have one), and the ball joints we bought didn't match the ones we took out of the truck. Come to find out they were for a completely different vehicle and checked by two different sales men. Once we got home to install we discovered the rental tool was broken and wouldn't work. My husband tried the best he could as that was the olny two sets they had to rent. We returned for the 3rd time and brought the ball joints we finley got out of the truck so we could double check we had the right ones. We were promised the next set matched and would work. When we checked the new tool we noticed a slight bind in it and asked if it would work he said "with out doubt". We pushed the new ball joint in and got the bottom one in after many attempts of it going of to the side. We started off centered but after we got it tight it went of to the side because of the bend. The top ball joint got wedged in and wouldn't move so our only option would be to start it all over until it was good. That was Monday morning, after getting it about a quarter of a inch seat in my husband sheard off a half inch small extension. My husband did whatever he had to do to loosen the press to get to the socket so he could remove it. My husband called to see if anyone has done this before and gets conformation that he is doing it right and continues on. That is when he breaks his first of two 7/8ths sockets. After we were lossing the tools we decieded to take the tools back and go find a better set of tools. We had another fail and my husband makes me call the store he knew he would not be as nice by now. Come to find out that for the second time we received the wrong set of upper ball joints and that we have to drive another 90 minutes to return them. My husband is now so upset at the sales men at Autozone he shut down he's not only getting wrong parts he's being lied to. Unfortunately his brain injury and PTSD as a veteran cause him to react with anger so I had to take over and do it myself and call a professional to come to the house. I love my husband far more than this truck. Unfortunately the professional was $130 down the drain only to be told wrong part sorry I can't help you. I called Autozone to explain what happened again and I get told there are two different axles for the truck depending on the modle such as base, Laramie, and bighorn. I have the Laramie but got the bass parts. I have to get our only vehicle back together and I feel defeated. There was absolutely no need for this to happen. I was able to get on the website and find the right part just by putting in the information from the inside of the driver door year, make and modle like the last sales person told me. Autozone will no longer have our family's business for the sake of our sanity. We are returning the parts and going with a recommendation from the...
Read moreWe had a flat tire with a puncture when driving down I-5 near Yreka yesterday. The manufacture's repair kit did not help, and we could not find any place open to fix it (AAA unavailable), so limped a few blocks to AutoZone to see if they knew of anyplace that was open. There were 2 clerks there, Devon and Daniel, both very professional and anxious to help. Daniel made a few phone calls to try to locate someplace that was open to fix the tire (there weren't), and Devon came out to look at the flat. After much discussion of what to do (we could not spend the night) he suggested that a small, low cost, 12V air compressor might keep it inflated until we could get to Redding where there was a Costco open to fix it.. He even came out and measure distance from 12V in car to the wheel bf we bought it. The compressor was a life saver. Even though we had to stop every 20 miles or so to reinflate, we made it to Redding with no problems. We are very grateful to both clerks, especially Devon who was able to be more involved while Daniel minded the store. Great service...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite parts store ... Until today. I had a faulty cv joint with lifetime warranty. They ordered a new one which didn't come in on time but the empty box did. Then they couldn't tell me when it would be in (took 9 days when they told me 2). The when the cv joint failed it took out the sway bar link too. They gave a new one which I thought was great. I spent too long trying to install the new cv joint, only to realize it was the wrong part. So it was back for the correct one, which appeared to be in stock the whole time! Installing the sway bar link -again the same problem - wrong part! So I called them. It was 9 minutes from close and told them I was on the way. Pulled into the driveway at 7:59 only to watch the employee lock the doors and turn the lights off!! Rude! Rude! RUDE!!!! This will be the last time I shop at Autozone where apparently faulty, incorrect parts is how they keep customers coming back!! So much for customer service. Your store policy just lost you...
