I booked a room in Yreka online based upon reviews and the fact that this is a newer facility than other hotels in the Shasta area.
We were on our way to Oregon from California to attend my step-son's funeral. Needless to say, I was a wreck at check-in! When I arrived there was another person there who had a family member with Down's Syndrome. Having a family member with Autism this does not bother me, however, I was trying to check-in and this person was being very vocal. I just could not think!!!
I apologized to Noel and explained my reason for traveling. She was very sympathetic and understanding of my needs. She recommended a good Mexican restaurant in the area where we could get a good meal and a margarita. It was just what I needed! Thank you.
The facility was nice and clean. There was a fitness room with a recumbent bike, elliptical, and treadmill. Also, a weight bench with assorted weights, and a universal machine. The pool was clean and maintained. It would be nice if there was a hot tub. I did not use the internet.
We were in 112, which had a king bed and a Jacuzzi. The room was also nice and clean, the bed comfortable, and the Jacuzzi made up for the lack of hot tub. We decided to book the room for our return trip upon check-out. The only issue we had was that the TV remote did not work. We brought this to their attention at check-out and it was fixed by our return visit.
The continental breakfast is nothing to write home about, however, I am grateful to have something to nibble on before packing my bags and checking out. Fruit and bagels were our choice, but they have cereal and milk, bread, and oatmeal. Would stick with something you know. Pancakes were novel but I recommend skipping the pastry type stuff altogether, along with eggs and sausage. The coffee isn't gourmet, but it's not bad, either! Used a hot chocolate package to make mocha. Grateful to have something before heading out. I generally hit a breakfast place after check out anyway.
Upon our return visit, I was looking forward to happy hour from 6-7 pm, but there wasn't one! I thought free beer and wine was part of the HIE experience. When I inquired I was told management didn't want one. While I can understand reasons for this, I was disappointed!
Yreka is a good stopping point from our home to Portland, OR. Next time I head that way, I will definitely stay...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about the people of Yreka and staff here at this hotel. They go out of their way to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. And as for amenities:
Location: I was happy with the side of town we were on. We felt safe and found out from some locals that it’s the better side of town to be on.
Free breakfast:wonderful variety. I’m talking boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and cheese omelet. There’s Dannon yogurt and Greek yogurt. Almond milk and regular cow milk. The pancake maker is on point. Pastries and fruit are plentiful. There’s more than I listed here, I’m impressed with the free breakfast selection. It was more than your average continental selection and as good as it can get for not having a restaraunt.
Indoor pool: not too cold, very clean and my four year old daughter had blast chasing my husband in the pool. We had the room all to ourselves.
Rooms: Great noise control. Didn’t hear a peep. Pillows are amazing, the beds are firm. My infant was able to sleep in the hotel crib just fine. Most importantly no bed bugs sighted! I appreciated the full sized desk and multiple lighting options. The tv lets you cast from your devices.
Decor: Fresh, bright with pops of like green color.
Service: once again, very friendly kind hearted people. Yreka I...
Read moreOn this trip I was driving from Tacoma, WA to Monterey, CA. We decided to stop for the night in Yreka. I had read some of the other reviews and was a bit concerned about the highway noise but it turned out not to be an issue at all.
Despite having a room that faced I-5, we did not hear the traffic until we opened the window.
As always, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very efficient and friendly. There was on staff, I believe her name is Nicole, that spent a great deal of her time telling us about places to see in the area and dining recommendations. We finally decided on a nearby Mexican restaurant and she gave us discount coupons for it. She then gave us detailed directions on how to get there and some additional recommendations for places to visit. When we got back from dinner, she inquired if we had enjoyed it and we did. She seemed to be very genuinely pleased.
The only minor complaint I would have is that we were enjoying watching the sun set from our room when an outside spotlight turned on. This spotlight was aimed right at our window. Thankfully the curtains were very thick and blocked out all the light so we could sleep. I had parked my truck in a spot so I could look out on it but with the spotlight on, I could not...
