I usually never do bad reviews even if I had a bad experience, but I've never been so disrespected in my entire life. My parents and I came from Portland, OR to Yreka to rest up for the continued drive tomorrow. We arrive and ask about the $57 for the room that was posted on the internet. The greeter Flowyela, I believe was here name said that with the taxes and pet fee it was going to be $92. I was reluctant at first, but my father had a hard time with the plate in his ankle from drive and cold weather. I gave in and agreed to the terms as long as the room was on the bottom floor. We bring all of our things into the room, turn on the lights and find the room messy and filthy. I asked my parents to rest on the chairs while I sorted it out. I took pictures and made my way to the front desk. I told Flowyela about the problem we found in the room. She didn't believe me so i showed her the pictures. Well she must of felt offended because she angrily asked if I wanted a refund. At first I was surprised that she had an attitude with me because it wasnt my fault the room wasn't clean, but I told her yes thinking maybe she's just frustrated in giving me a free room in the name of customer service. After she gave me the refund I asked what room she was going to put me in. She said not in any room because she gave me a full refund. I was angry, but more than anything surprised. I reminded her of my fathers ankle and how were not trying to go anywhere else. She then said if I wanted a room I would have to get it on the second floor and pay the full price. At that point I said wow okay I guess I'll leave. I went back to the room and explained what had happened to my parents. We immediately start looking for places to stay on our phones and literally a few minutes into it she barges in and tells us to leave. I was in utter disbelief. I told here that were going to leave in a sec, but we were trying to find a place first. She then said you need to leave right now and waved my parents out the door. Mind you this is around 930pm and it was freezing outside with the snow. My parents and I grabbed our things and left. I returned to the office with Flow and grabbed my receipt. I have never been treated so harshly by any company that is built on customer service. Usually when I have a bad experience due to incompetence it is usually met with great customer service to make up for what had happened which is usually why I never give bad reviews. But in this case since she affected my parents and I so negatively, I could not let it go. This felt personal. I don't know if she had a bad day or had been working in the industry too long and has grown cold toward customers. But one thing is for sure, she should not be working in an industry were customer service is paramount. I would never recommend this place and if I could give it 0...
Read moreI normally don’t write reviews, but I feel like I need to share my experience so folks have all the information they need to make decisions on their own while traveling.
First, I want to say, I have stayed at this Super 8 before. And while not my first choice, it’s a budget-friendly option with decent rooms - depending on which you get.
I come to Yreka often for work so options sometimes can be limited and honestly Super 8 and Holiday Inn are the two best options in that town. Holiday is better but expensive.
But I must say, an experience I had while traveling for work and staying at the Super 8 truly shook me and made me feel unsafe.
I was awaken three different times by a man pounding on my hotel room door throughout the night. At 12:30am, 1:45am and 3am. The man was someone I didn’t recognize and showed signs of substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
I called the front desk each time to no avail. I called 9-11 each time too. The first two calls dispatch sent an officer out but was unable to locate the individual. The third time I demanded an officer come to my door to escort me to the front office so I could switch rooms (I had called Holiday Inn to get a room but they were fully booked.)
The front desk attendant had been sleeping, but was woken up pretty quickly when he saw me and an officer at the door. They too couldn’t switch me rooms as they were fully booked.
Now look, as a solo traveler it didn’t help, nor give me peace of mind when both the officer and the front office attendant said they new this individual, that he was mentally ill and was “harmless.” The front office attendant also said he has been on the property that day and asked to leave. He also added he has had issues with this man in the past.
None of this information made me feel better or feel safe. And as a paying customer and a solo traveler, or any traveler, we all deserve a safe place to rest at the end of the day. We all deserve to feel safe.
It’s clear the hotel knows this man, has had experience with him too. It’s clear the cops have as well. I don’t care if he is “harmless.” That behavior wasn’t harmless at 12, 1 and 3 in the morning.
I urge management to take better safety measures, let alone answer their calls in an emergency, to avoid situations like this and better protect their patrons and make their property more safe for the future.
I won’t be staying there again. I did get a refund for the night and many apologies. I ended up staying at Holiday inn the rest of my work trip.
But, everyone should have all the info before deciding where to spend their money and sleep at night while traveling. Stay...
Read moreAfter reading reviews of so many other hotels/motels in Yreka that had enough reviews from people who had reservations about wholeheartedly recommending them, I saw just 8 reviews of this motel and they were all very good. So, we decided to take a chance. We were not disappointed. We are pretty sure the room had been recently renovate and all furnishing, bedding, towels, frig and microwave were all in excellent condition. The room is not carpeted which means it is very easy for them to keep it clean. In fact, I put my yoga mat on the floor in the morning and could not even see a speck of dust under the bed. Our room was closest to but not next to the office (Room 104?) The office has exterior lighting at night which did not shine into the room too much because the curtains were blackout curtains and hung perfectly so they did not open up in the middle when you closed them. However, if you prefer a darker area, I would suggest you request a room in the darker part of the motel.||The check in staff was very kind and efficient as was the morning staff when we ate breakfast and checked out. The breakfast included cooked oatmeal, make-your-own waffles, some yogurts, a toaster with various breads, some fresh fruits, good coffee, tea, etc. The breakfast room was very clean. ||Lastly, there is a great parking lot with plenty of room for you to park near your room and a number of large spots in the middle for tractor trailer trucks. This hotel should definitely be on the Big Rig TripAdvisor website if...
