Yreka Punjabi Dhaba ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਢਾਬਾ — Restaurant in Yreka

I was going to stop at pilot truck stop in Weed for the night. But I looked at my phone to see if there was a truckstop a little closer to Oregon. Not only did I find a One 9 truckstop in Yreka CA. But there is an Indian food restaurant inside. Yreka Punjabi Dhaba. Now, there is a dish that I absolutely love, but I don't remember the name of. Channa....something. Its chickpeas and spinach in a bright yellow curry type sauce. I looked at the menu and saw channa masala. So I ordered that, (spicy) thinking it was the dish I was craving. It wasn't, but that's okay. It tastes delicious anyway. This dish came with deep fried flatbread. I also ordered chicken tika masala. (spicy) And this dish came with some basmati rice. I also got a tray of sliced onions.But i'm not sure which dish it's supposed to go with. Doesn't matter, I ate it with both. The deep fried flat bread threw me for a loop. I saw bread on the menu and thought it was going to be naan or roti. Although I did eat it, it wasn't my favorite. Everything else taste excellent. The chicken tika was so creamy and delicious! Have you ever eaten something that tasted so good that you just kept eating it, even though you were full already? I would highly recommend eating here.

Just for context. I asked for both dishes to be prepared spicy. For me, tapatio hot sauce is spicy. Tabasco sauce is mild. Both of these dishes prepared spicy, are about the same heat level as...

Service was slow and the food was average. I've read some amazing reviews and had high hopes. Upon entering, we looked at the menu and then discovered you need to go to a podium to order. The order is written, then taken to the cashier's station at the front where you pay, then take the receipt back to the podium and they make your food. This is not a problem if you can get somebody to the podium. At least three people looked at me from the kitchen area while I stood waiting. Rang the bell twice. Finally had the order written. Then went and stood in line for the cashier. The truck stop was busy and the line went to the back of the store. Took the receipt back to the podium, where I stood in line again (behind a couple who rang the bell three times and had people step around the corner, look at them, and disappear again each time). Finally got the food. Good taste. Lots of rice. In three dishes ordered, we totalled 8 one inch square pieces of chicken. The total order was over $60 and between all the dishes we couldn't even get a whole chicken breast? The only vegetables were in the pakora.
