I have never checked in to a room and left the same day, but there's a first time for everything. I paid 50 dollars a night for this room, so I obviously wasn't expecting much. I have stayed in cheap hotel rooms before, and can deal with a moldy shower or sticky carpet. However, this hotel had serious issues I couldn't over look. Upon walking in to the room, I was hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. The room reeked, even though the sign on the door said "no-smoking room". It wasn't just a trace odor, it hung in the air and I can actually still smell it on me. The AC unit in the room was not working, and the desk clerk mentioned this at check in, but I didn't think any thing of it until I pulled up to my room and saw a huge piece of plywood covering the window. The owners installed a window unit in this room (ground floor), and placed ply wood above it. They did not secure the ply wood in any way, so anyone walking by could rip the AC unit or piece of ply wood out of the window and crawl right in to my room. The majority of the occupants of this motel are long term, and not to be rude, but they all look sketchy. Having a huge hole in the room is a serious safety issue, and I didn't feel like fighting with the owners to get a refund. I just left and found a safe, smoke free...
Read moreThe desk-clerk/proprietor Sanjay Agarwal was the friendliest most accommodating hotel staff I have ever dealt with. When my plans changed at the last minute and my arrival was delayed by a day, and I said that we did not know how late we would be arriving, he cheerily accommodated me and changed my reservation over the phone, even though the Booking.com website said it was too late to change. And when we finally arrived late at night, he said he had saved for us an upgraded room for the original reserved price, even though the place was fully booked that night. He also suggested places we could eat in town that meet our particular needs, and also suggested sights that would fit our interests that were along our route, and gave us detailed directions. And he was genuinely interested in hearing about our trip. We stayed there twice, both heading north to Oregon and again heading back south. On our second visit he recognized and remembered us and called us by name.. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. And that is specially notable because the rooms there cost only half of what the rest of the hotels charged on our trip throughout the full length of California and Oregon. Also, the Mountain View Inn is very conveniently located near a I-5...

The rooms are clean and this is a new king size bed in here plus new TV on the wall and a heater 2 stay warm ...the WIFI is excellent & included in the price
At the moment the motel is on OFF SEASON rates which is *very reasonable & very welcome to a frazzled and tired driver. Weekly rates currently at $400 plus taxes
I'm still "decompressing" from a long 17 hour drive from up North in Washington State, so I was very grateful for the room & shelter from all the storms, heavy traffic and freezing *30 Weather!!
The storm & heavy rain was coming down pretty snowy & slushy at the Shasta Summits, so the driving was slow and was very crowded with traffic;
So it's good to come down into some dry & snowfree roads!! Very quiet at night here; also the staff are very pleasant to work with and rates are low.
So I'm really Grateful to get out of "The Freezing Rain & ICE STORMS " just in the nick of timel!!
THANKYOU so very much for being there & open for me during a very long, (17 hour) stressful drive & impromptu emergency room reservation !! I was exhausted
GOD BLESS YOU ALL &...
