Charruas hostel — Hotel in Montevideo

We had booked a stay with this establishment through Airbnb. After booking our accommodation and preparing our bus for Montevideo, we were contacted by the host just to be told the price we had paid through the Airbnb platform was wrong and we must pay more upon arrival.

We were told the price was wrong that was stated on Airbnb and they have been having troubles sorting it out. While it may be true, the place should not have been offered on Airbnb if that was the case. Thankfully our communication was handled swiftly and in time in sorting out our cancellation because we were not going to pay three times the price.

Airbnb helped us out and communicated with both us and the host to find out what the issue was. However, I was very disappointed that the host/establishment didn’t handle it more professionally and honor the price that was stated, the price we paid. Problems can happen, but they had nothing to do with us. They should have accepted their responsibility and allowed us to stay, especially given we were already on our way via bus with very limited wifi. There was no sympathy and we were left late in the evening still looking for...

Lamentablemente le tengo que poner una estrella.

Me sucedió que el muchacho que administra el Hostel, Sergio (el parcero), fue bastante descortes conmigo. Fue raro. Primero estaba todo bien, la mejor onda y derepente me dejó de hablar. Justo coincide con que llegó otro voluntario colombiano y entre los dos me ignoraban. Nunca entendí porqué. Super triste porque él es el administrador, entonces que me destraten así me pareció muy incomodo. Si estás conviviendo hay que decir buendia, minimo. Se lo plantié y se hizo el desentendido. Pagué dos meses y al mes y medio me fui.

Hablé con otras personas, ex voluntarios de ahí, y resulta que tmb sufrieron destrato por parte de Sergio. Una pena porque el lugar es hermosisimo.

Esto fue en enero de este año,2025. Hoy aprovecho para dejar esta reseña para que quede asentado la incomodidad que pasé en mi estadía por allá. Ojalá Sergio aprenda a no abusar de su autoridad por allá. No está bueno jugar con las estadías de las personas en lo que por un tiempo es su hogar, sobre todo si sos extrangero y no hay tantos otros lugares para ir. Ojalá anden bien, les deseo grandes aprendizajes.

We stayed in a double room at this hostel which was up a ladder and kinda felt like you were in a treehouse. Very comfortable room but quite small.||||The kitchen was well used and clean enough. The garden was beautiful :)||||But mostly, the staff were lovely and super helpful....
