We loved the proximity of this hotel to the airport and to restaurants within walking distance.....the artwork was a bonus! We were kindly upgraded to a larger room, even though we were passing through for an early morning flight which meant departing the hotel @ 1am, so we were only using the hotel for part of our nightly rate, appreciated the breakfast box for the airport :) The bed was very comfortable, shame we didn't have the time to sleep longer in it and the shower excellent.|We requested our registration documents as required by Uzbek authorities.....but unfortunately didn't receive them in the drama to get to the airport in the middle of the night! Could have been a disaster, as authorities checked our pile of docs and luckily we had already stayed in Tashkent but in another hotel, who provided our documentation. The really disappointing experience was with the front desk staff, who I'm guessing are carrying out a side business of their own....be warned, it goes like this.... they will see your luggage and say "you need to write a note when ordering your Yandex to the airport notifying the driver of the amount of luggage you have". Little did we know that this then means that we couldn't order Yandex on our phone that we had used successfully 10 or more times throughout Uzbekistan....so the staff member volunteers to order on their phone on your behalf.....and guess what.....a driver appeared out of nowhere instantly and the price originally quoted when we placed our order with Yandex soared from 28000som to 50000som!!! Even more interesting is that our Yandex fare to the airport a week earlier from our lovely ATECA Suites Hotel in Tashkent only charged us 28000som with the same amount of luggage, and kindly helped us with our luggage too…..make your own assumptions from that! Not a pleasant way to end our wonderful time in Uzbekistan....not the money, so much as the principle of what happened. Also be careful exchanging your soms for other currencies @ the front desk.....can't prove it, as the transaction was done in a hurry as we ran out the door....BUT just check the exchange rate on the day and check the US dollars you are...
Read moreAt first, we believed this was a nice hotel, however after our stay we found out how wrong we were. After checking in for 4 nights, on our first night we ran into serious issues. At first the refrigerator did not work and we notified the front desk. His name was Corbet, who came up and checked it out and asked if they could deal with it tomorrow. Which was reasonable and we said of course. Appliances stop working at times, these things happen. Then 20 minutes later the curtain frame fell off. It is a large frame with exposed nails which pose a danger to me and my family. We called the front desk again and Corbet’s first response was "Can we fix it tomorrow?" When we said no it's a safety issue he finally came up.
When Corbet came to our room he apathetically pointed out no one can see in through the window so "why do you care?" We pointed out that that is not the issue, it that there are now exposed nails in our room; of which we can trip on in the middle of the night if me or my family has to use the restroom. We then asked for another room. At this point, Corbet, the front desk staff member raised his voice at us and said "There are no other rooms!" and "It’s not my problem!" I was astounded to be talked to in this manner. I was furious at the lack of respect and empathy.
I cannot express how disrespectful and infuriating this is. I felt extremely unsafe at this hotel and at the same time it was the middle of the night so I could not look for another hotel for my family. I personally had to put furniture in front of it so my family did not step or go near the nails during the night.
The next morning, I notified the manager, who apologized for the window frame coming off, but not about the disrespect, aggressive behavior from their staff member Corbet. At this point I did not care about the window, again things happen. But being yelled at by a staff member is unacceptable and I never got an apology.
Bottom line, things go wrong believe me I understand that. But refusing to do anything about it, yelling at guests and being apathetic to others being potentially hurt is crossing the line. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES STAY...
Read moreI stay at this hotel pretty often, and so was very disappointed with the terrible check in experience tonight. We had booked 3 rooms, 2 with two beds each, and one with a king bed. The hotel gave us two rooms with a single queen size bed and there was a cot for some reason in the room with the king size bed. It took half an hour late at night to get one room with two beds and to remove the cot. So one room still had only a single queen size bed. I had a very important work call which I was late for because of the ridiculous musical rooms that we were forced to play. I asked for the things I had left in storage to be brought up to my room. An hour later, I called and asked where my things were. The extremely young guy at reception who had trouble with Russian and no English whatsoever asked me what was in the four small bags I left. I said that I did not want him rummaging through my things. Finally I had to get dressed and go down myself. In the left luggage room were my 4 small bags and someone else’s suitcase, and NOTHING else. So it was really amazing that even a 16 year old could not figure out what was mine over the course of an hour. I asked to speak to the manager. There was no manager. The young guy at reception called to tell me the manager would be here in 30 minutes and would come to my room to talk to me. An hour later I called reception to tell them that given my transfer to the airport at 5:30am, I was going to sleep. Unfortunately, I will no longer stay...
