I came to the hostel at 6:30 after night bus from Bishkek. I was exhausted. I spoke with Madam Dano in reception "Please is there any chance to do earlier check in?" she said "no, check in at 2PM, then "Is there any chance to take a shower, please?", she said "no, showers are fully occupied" (it was not). "Is there any chace to scan passport now, please?", she said "No after 2PM". "Is there chance to use locker before 2PM"....Me "Please is there any chance...", she always said "No. Finally she said I can use toilet and rest outside on patio if I want. I even felt she is taking joy of forbid me things :( After 1,5 hour I was sleepy and spoke with super kind Chinese guy ♥️ he allowed me to rest on his bed, because he was leaving hotel. So I took a nap on his bed (I know it's not they way it should be, apologize) and Madam Dano came around 10:30 and asked me to leave palce, because it's cleaning time, even though check out and cleaning time is after 12. And when I was in rush to leave hostel at 14:30, she said I won't leave hostel if I won't show my passport. Me "Really, I was waiting here for so many hours, I'm in rush, can I do this latter, I won't run away" She "No". And I'm really sorry to share this, but anyway for future guest, please be kind, if shower is empty and you will take it 2/4 hours latter you will spend same amount of water (or even more, because you could be angry, me no) and also what is most important than water... you would get more positive opinions after all. Beside hostel is very cozy and I spent there really good time, so hope you won't find this review negative, but as private advise...
Read moreI stayed at Art Hostel and honestly, it was a really good experience. The inside felt cozy and calm, with a soft artistic vibe that matched the name well. Everything from the walls to the furniture had some character, and it just felt like a place that knew what it was trying to be. The room I stayed in wasn’t packed at all. It was quiet, the AC worked great, and I slept well under cool air the whole night. The only thing that bugged me was that I didn’t have a drawer for my bed. The one under it was locked, so I just left my bags on the floor next to me. Not a big deal, but still. The bathroom was super clean, which honestly surprised me. Most hostels I’ve been to don’t take care of that stuff, but this one did. And breakfast? It was free and actually really good. They had a nice variety, not just bread and butter, and I ate while chilling on this soft couch in the common room. Felt like a calm morning at home. They also have a pool and a tapchan outside. I didn’t have time to try the pool myself, but a few people I met there said it was great. On the walls, there were a lot of artworks with cultural touches, and I saw a bowl full of different currencies from all over the world. It made me feel like this place had been home for many travelers before me too. Just a lovely, comfortable hostel. Not trying to be fancy, but it delivers where it matters. I’d definitely...
Read moreI rarely review, but I feel like I was staying at a different hotel than the one reviewed by everyone else.
Pros: Some of the staff are friendly Courtyard is nice for relaxing Staff are available at all hours for check in / out
Cons: The staff were very reluctant to register me. This is a legal requirement in Uzbeckistan for every night of your stay and you can face fines starting from $1,000USD if hotels do not do it for you. When I first asked, the receptionist lied and told me that it’s only required if you leave Uzbeckistan by bus (?). She only agreed when I heavily insisted. Outrageous behaviour from an established hostel. The bathrooms smell like mold Cleanliness is relative, hairs on everything in the room, carpet, bed, etc. At ~$50USD a night for a private room, the hostel is relatively expensive for Uzbeckistan, especially considering what you get for it. When you show up, the staff pressure you into cancelling the booking you made online, lying to the booking provider, and then making another booking directly with them. They offer you a discount for this, but it feels...
