BEWARE OF PRICES ON LAUNDRY SERVICE
Overall I had a lovely stay here and had planned to leave a positive review. Unfortunately upon checking out, after having had my laundry done here, I was informed that the laundry service price was astronomical. I had less then a kilo of clothes washed, including mostly socks and underwear, as well as 5 simple garments (2 sweatpants, 2 shirts, one dress) and they wanted to charge me 1,145,000 som ($115) for doing my laundry. I was absolutely shocked about this. I have been traveling for many years and spent time in many countries, staying in numerous 4 star accommodations and have never once been charged such a high amount. Furthermore, I was never informed about the price of the laundry prior to having it done, nor was there any kind of price list presented with the prices in my room. Additionally, I had done laundry previously at another hotel of equal caliber in Uzbekistan and they charged me only 100K som (less then $10) for a larger amount of laundry. After speaking to the manager twice they reduced the fee to half the price, which still seems quite high but I was able to accept that. I would encourage the management to reevaluate the prices for their laundry service and additionally to be sure customers are aware of how high the fee will be, as it is absolutely unusual and inflated.
Otherwise it was a great place to stay and a positive experience. I’m disappointed in the laundry incident, as I will be doing a lot of business In Uzbekistan in the upcoming year and would have been happy to stay here again. However now I am not comfortable with the lack of transparency about prices for the services this hotel offers, and I will be finding...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this hotel. For a business trip with no special requests, it works fine— offering comfortable rooms (though lacking power outlets near the nightstand), a convenient location, an impressive breakfast (although I didn't see their live music), and friendly front desk service. However, my experience was significantly marred by the New Year’s Eve buffet (paid service). I have three concerns: Safety, as a loose power cord covered by a flimsy protector near the coffee station created a tripping hazard, which I nearly fell over. Rudness: Despite politely raising the cord issue with the staff member managing the room, he rudely dismissed my concern, claiming it was safe ("That's it. It's safe" (Russian: "Все-все-все. Это безопасно") as if he was a "gopnik" and not a hotel employee, without addressing the issue. The special dinner was a letdown — the appetizers were almost identical to breakfast offerings, the main course was unremarkable, and the desserts were absent (only in the end the staff brought some refills). The hotel staff advertised this dinner as something "I won't regret", but I was embarrased inviting family there. While the hotel meets business travel needs well, it failed to deliver during a special occasion, revealing a lack of attention to...
Read moreMixed feelings about my stay. In terms of positives, the place has a nice decor, it is very clean, there is a good range of foods for breakfast and the outdoor swimming pool is lovely and big enough to get some decent lengths. Easy enough to get a taxi from the hotel using yandex to different places. It's very quiet in the rooms.
The things that let it down are that the staff were not that welcoming. We arrived and the staff member looked unhappy and there was no offer of help with things such as the bags. The room was very small given it was supposed to be a superior king room. I dont know if they had given a smaller room purposefully because they knew we would not be getting in till late and too tired to argue or if this is the size or the room, but it was disappointing. The view which was supposed to be the courtyard/garden was a wall and there was no sunlight coming into the room even in the day giving it a gloomy feel - pictures shown are from the middle of the day. Air conditioning was noisy and not that effective as the wardrobe was blocking some of it. There were not many plug...
