We booked a suite here, it was beautiful, really spacious with the most amazing view of the Dragon Bridge.
It had a beautiful bedroom, the bed was huge and really comfortable. The Flat screen TV came with Netflix, Prime etc.
The separate lounge was a plus as it helped me not to interrupt the boss’s sleep while I dealt with my jet lag!
The bathroom and walk-in closet were about the same size as my first apartment in Liverpool. The rainfall shower was a monsoon and the tub was huge! The bathroom was stocked with all the bells and whistles and the bathrobes are the softest you’ll ever find in a hotel!
We ordered room service more than once, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, so was the minibar.
Breakfast (we ate in both the restaurant and the privilege lounge) was top notch!
There are a couple of restaurants, both are really, really good, a section Chinese restaurant’s menu is available on the room service menu.
We never used the spa, other gusts raved about it!
The stars of the show are (without doubt) the staff. We met Duong on our first day, she spent the time to help us in the right direction regarding the hotel’s facilities etc. she was so helpful.
A big shout out to all the restaurant staff, especially Giang and an extra big one for Ni, who looked after us most days, what a star she is!
The same can be said of Hông, who looked after us in the lounge, is a wonderful young woman. My wife was unwell one day and the concern Hông showed and the help she provided was so very thoughtful and much appreciated. Thank you so much Hông!
Also in the lounge (on our last evening) were So’n (great sense of humour and a lovely manner) Thinh and Ngoc who made sure everyone was looked after and everything ran like clockwork.
We were checked out and looked after by Trang, she was wonderful and so very helpful with our onward journey!
All the team members here are amazing people!
Some have said in other reviews that this hotel is ‘out of the way’ nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a £1 Grab ride from the beach front, which has 24 hour construction one end and beach clubs (that play music to keep you awake till 2am) the other.
From the hotel you cross the road to a promenade that leads you to the Dragon Bridge, along the way there are local vendors and numerous photo opportunities.
A Grab car is usually only a minute or two away, we never waited longer than four minutes!
This is the best hotel of our three week trip to Vietnam by a country mile and the other three have all been excellent, but the Grand Mercure Danang tops the charts, if you stay here you will not be disappointed! Top...

PROS: Great views of the Han river and surrounding Danang. Staff are well trained, positive and friendly. Accor Member privileges are honoured. Upgrades, drink vouchers, early/late check in/out. The attentive friendly staff in the privilege lounge deserve a special mention. Very professional. They make a great cocktail and clear away tables fast. They are also friendly and can offer valuable advice on Danang and activities around the city. This service was better than some of the more luxury brand Accor residences. We were surprised and impressed. Decent breakfast buffet on ground floor with attentive staff. Egg station is slow - just have a warmer full of scrambled eggs?? Quiet central location on Green Island. Grand Mercure Danang often has well publicized events and we have attended these finding them to be fun and good value. Easy, quick access to and from Danang International airport. Also close to the city and beach areas.
CONS: Wifi in rooms is weak. 20mbps max. Lobby somewhat faster at 60-80mbps. Check In process could be faster. On one of our stays the room had a musty smell. Potentially worth checking for mould. Parking is hell. We visited on a motorcycle and hotel offered free parking underneath. Each time you are given a small ticket for your bike. I am not sure why since the area is guarded 24/7? On several occasions we forgot our ticket and tried to leave the parking garage. The attendant advised us no we must go get the ticket. We are already on the bike in full gear. We told him. We are not going back up to the 20th floor to get a ticket. Plus he saw us arrive several hours earlier. It is very complicated as he told us to wait while he uses the walkie talkie to check with several departments. We didn't have time to wait and it is our bike after all. So we just drove away. The staff yelled and chased us. Not ideal for guests who are just trying to use their own vehicle. The next time we just parked up on the street, which is less secure, but also less hassle. The idea should be that guests can come and go freely from Grand Mercure but we did not feel this. It became a complicated waste of time every time we arrived or left the parking area. After a while, we left our motorbike in the garage and just took Grab transport from ground level to travel anywhere. If you are visiting Grand Mercure, I would recommend not bringing your own vehicle as it is a slow, complicated process each time you want to leave and go...
Read moreGrand Mercure Danang is incredible in every single way, from the time I arrived to the the second I left, every moment was perfect and special. The most incredible team, each and every single one of them made my experience sensational. Central of Downtown and at the heart of the Han River, the hotel is located in a vibrant, bustling hub ready to be explored.
This was my third stay now and Grand Mercure Danang has become my favourite Accor property. Every stay just gets better and I find myself not even wanting to leave the hotel. As an Accor Plus Diamond member I am treated truly like a VIP.
The rooms are lovely, with stunning views of the Han River. The most wonderful Executive Lounge with the most amazing team, ala carte breakfast menu where nothing is to much to ask for each and every day and in the evening a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, yummy canapés and fireworks right in front of the hotel with great views from the lounge on the 21st floor.
The dining spaces are also incredible; Golden Dragon restaurant with the yummiest All-You-Can Eat Dim Sum Buffet in all of Danang and the Veranda Vietnamese restaurant offering the tastiest sharing platter to experience all the tastes and flavours from different parts of Vietnam. Friday night Seafood BBQ Buffet is to die for, so many dishes you won't be able to try them all. Executive Chef even prepared me something special off menu during my stay which was amazing.
I would love to thank and mention every person that truly made my stay each and every time amazing but there are so many, it is every single person at the Grand Mercure Danang that makes it special. I can't explain the feeling I get when staying at this hotel, it truly feels like home, everyone is your friend and it is something special. All I can say is I would suggest if you haven't given them a go already or are looking for somewhere to stay when coming to Danang, there truly isn't anywhere else to stay then the Grand Mercure Danang. You'll thank me for it as the team will truly look after you and you'll be able to feel too how...
