I booked a table for the 7 of us to celebrate an early Father's Day a week in advance, we travelled 45 mins from Hoi An to come here.
I was aware that there was a buffet on the weekends, however there is an a la carte option on the weekdays. During my booking online, I left my phone number, email address and a message to say we would like to order from the a la carte option instead, I specifically said if there was any issues with that then please call or email me.
When we sat down at our table on the day, a very rude waitress came to us and told us we "have" to order from the buffet menu. "You have no other option" she said. She then went onto to say that they had no contact details to contact me on. Funniliy enough the contact details are required when booking on the website. No apology was given, only a very adament, "it's not my issue" and fairly agressive.
We asked for 5 mins to decide, and decided it wasn't for us. When we got up to leave, another waitress came and offered us the a la carte menu! no explanation as to why it's suddenly ok.
We decided the restaurant wasn't for us with the aggressive behaviour of the staff in a 5* hotel and restaurant.
Will not return. Dishonest and agressive staff, felt forced to take the more expensive buffet option. Re-training is probably better for business.
My father was disappointed having driven 45mins...
Read moreFor my final night at Grand Mercure Da Nang, I was most excited to try Da Nang’s best Cantonese restaurant and I was fortunate to get a reservation on this particular evening as they were expecting a delegation of special guests to the restaurant.
The service was very friendly and warm, not to mention, highly attentive and the restaurant interior was opulent. I ordered from the yum char menu and loved every dish I had of crab dumpling soup, prawn coriander dumplings, pork siumai in Avalon’s sauce, Shanghai pork mince dumplings, pork squid stuffed chillis with choy sum. I particularly liked the complementary pickles and Kim chi and I was fortunate enough to discover a new favourite wine, Culemborg, a Sth African Merlot.
It was a highlight seeing Rebecca, one of the GM friendly faces from the other restaurant at The Golden Dragon as her customer service is impeccable! Highly recommended with...
Read more5 stars for the service and value for money. Wait staff spoke good English and were very happy to assist and nowhere I have been to a buffet where the wait staff seem like they can’t wait to get your next order (they kept passing the tablet to us asking us to reorder!).
Superb value for what you pay for too. Maybe it’s because I come from Singapore where dining out at a decent restaurant can be quite expensive but what I paid here for my whole family (I have young kids - under 6 is free while my 8 yr old pays 50%) can probably only pay for myself in popular dim sum joint Tim Ho Wan.
Menu is wide with generous ingredients but the food is a bit of hit and miss with some good and some not so good. Not really refined as the wrappings around the dim sim are often too thick.
Considering the value proposition , I’ll certainly revisit again if I am...
