Read moreRight after Sapa we came to Hanoi. We arrived at Gilson around 10pm. There was a big blunder, no more available room left despite having our reservation already confirmed in print. However, the problem was well handled by a front desk staff. The young man by the name of Sunno helped to arrange alternative accomodations at a nearby hotel. Our 'stop-gap' stay at Kuretake Inn wasn't perfect but at least reasonably comfortable. Spending the next few nights at Gilson hotel was generally average. Breakfast is a big letdown. We understand not every worker is good with English, but this lady adamantly refused to use Google translate to communicate. We figured it could be due to her fragile pride. The hotel interiors are classy and love the lounge area with a massage chair in it.
The hotel is on a main road which is easy access for hailing taxis and other transpo. Its also walking distance to Ho Chi Minh Museum and nearby Hanoi tourist attraction.
I have standard double room which is bit spacious. The bed is Queen size and super comfortable and had extra pillows. The toilet and shower are separated with glass with stand alone lavatory. So going to toilet is so easy without a door.
My stay have a free breakfast. They had limited choices, toast, some egg, sausage and can have your own Pho Bo which is good.
