I had an extremely disappointing experience at La Casa Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were unbelievably unaccommodating. Despite our request for a room with a double bed, we were given a minuscule room that barely fit one person comfortably.
Our ordeal didn't stop there. We decided to schedule multiple spa and massage appointments on the day of our departure, assuming that 6 hours would be sufficient for four people. However, the reality was a nightmare. One massage took an eternity to start, and as a result, the last two of us never had the chance to get our 30-minute massages. It's clear that the spa and massage services at this hotel are nothing but false advertising. They use regular hotel rooms as makeshift spa rooms for massages, and then they call in masseuses from outside who arrive late and provide unprofessional service.
The front desk staff's behavior is utterly rude and aggressive when interacting with customers. When we called to cancel a massage appointment that the hotel was late for by 45 minutes, they rudely hung up on us without any explanation or confirmation.
And let's not forget the laziness of the bellboys. We had to repeatedly ask them to move our suitcases, either to our room or from our room to the lobby. The checkout was supposed to be at 1 pm, but the bellboy didn't show up on time and had the audacity to complain about the quantity of our luggage when he finally did.
The only silver lining in this dismal experience was the breakfast and the breakfast staff. The food was decent, and the staff efficiently handled orders and cleaned up promptly. However, this sole positive aspect hardly compensates for the overall horrendous experience at La Casa Hotel. Avoid this place at all costs!

Read moreUS Travelers: this isn't 4 stars like the Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, etc. This hotel is more like a Days Inn/Holiday Inn Express/La Quinta. ||Make no mistake, there ARE true 4 star hotels in Hanoi, like the Hilton, JW Marirott, Sheraton, etc., but this isn't it. Just setting the expectations given the high star rating for this hotel.||I really wanted to like this place, but it's pretty warn and in need of an update. At least my room on the 10th floor. The hotel itself is really noisy - particularly if they have events going on in their meeting rooms. You can hear the music etc. all over the hotel. If your room doesn't have a shower - has a tub with a shower wand instead - it is perilous getting in an out of the tub. I say this so others who may be 50+ travelers are forewarned. Certainly an adventure every morning. If you have a room with a shower (like my colleague) there is a glorious window wall so while you are on the toilet you can look out over your room and, if the window is open, out over Hanoi.||The breakfast is okay. The variety is interesting. Some western (omelets, egg, bacon, pork sausage) some Vietnamese (pho, noodles, pork) and a surprising amount of Indian cuisine. ||There's no real hotel bar. You can get beverages in the very tiny rooftop restaurant. Ah, speaking of tiny, the rooftop pool. When we were there it was looking kinda rough. Maybe it wasn't a good week for the pool.||If you need a place to rest your head and get actual sleep, I'd pass here. It's just too noisy between the events, the hotel staff, the slamming doors of other guest rooms, and the thin walls between rooms. But, if you just need shelter from when you are done hanging out at Beer Corner or in the Old Quarter, then this will...

The hotel clearly seen aged, but few part had receive refurbished such television and modern design bathroom. The good news is the room was clean. Some of room had bathtub instead of shower.
I discovered the bathroom had flaw design. Bidet shower placed on the left toilet instead of right toilet caused difficulty during anal cleansing. On bathroom with bathtub, user need to go up to bathtub from the edge side.
The breakfast had wide variety menu, including salad and bread. The only issue was soybean milk taste like too much added water.
One thing noticed by me was almost all guest were group tour. On the second day I stay, I saw other people from other group tour but that was the only other guest. On the last day I stay, I had breakfast accompanied with (almost all) empty chair and silence. No other people eat beside fellow tour participant.
La Casa was not kinda strategic hotel. No convenience store or center of...
