Bít Tết Ngọc Hiếu — Restaurant in Hà Nội

I have been here a couple of times because my Vietnamese girlfriend rates it as pretty good, but I have not been particularly impressed. The staff are friendly and helpful when you can get their attention, but unlike many restaurants in Hanoi, I didn't feel like the staff upstairs was keeping an eye out for waving hands and yells for napkins, drinks, bills and whatever... I had to physically get up to tap staff on the shoulder for service. This might have been partly due to exhaustion on their part as the restaurant was extremely busy both times I have been. The atmosphere is not my style. Noisy, very cramped and crowded... it feels like Christmas lunch in the poor uncles home. People jammed in like sardines. The food was okay, but the steak I had both times was tough at one end and raw at the other; was difficult to eat because you are given a butter knife for a tough steak; the cast iron sizzle-dish the steak comes in is hard to manoeuvre around; and when it arrives the fat is spitting out all over the place but you can't escape getting burned by boiling fat because the crowded conditions don't allow you to move away from the table, and the tables are small and crowded so you can't push the burning oil away from you, so you just try to protect yourself with a few napkins the size of a postage stamp and hope you can wash the oil stains out of your clothes later. Very old restaurant, reminded me of Soviet Union restaurants I saw in the pictures. It’s NOT clean, but I guess it’s still one of the best places to try Bo ne, traditional Vietnamese breakfast. It features eggs, beef, sauce, vegetables, all served on a hot-iron pan. Some positions in the menu were not available but the main dish, Bo ne, was represented in four variations. Không gian quán bẩn vô cùng, dưới đất toàn giấy không ai quét dọn, sàn toàn mỡ, đi khỏi quán mà giầy dép vẫn còn nhớt mỡ, bàn thì đầy mỡ + nước bẩn. Sao quán toàn món 100-200k mà bẩn hơn cả quán phở 3-40k đầu ngõ nhà tôi vậy??? Món ăn: chảo nóng đựng thức ăn rất thú vị, nhưng mỗi lần bê lên bàn thì nước sốt, mỡ trong chảo bắn tung toé ra ngoài. Món ăn không quá đặc biệt (cái này tuỳ khẩu vị từng người), nhưng mình thấy như ăn thịt bò xào và bò viên, không xứng đáng giá 139k. Nói thật không bằng quán Bánh mỳ cột điện, ăn suất 60k. Nhân viên: không biết có được đào tạo không mà chẳng có chút chủ động nào, bàn thiếu đũa thìa không dọn ra cho KH, có 3-4 bàn KH thôi mà gọi nước mãi không thấy đâu, ăn một lúc + nhắc 3-4 lần mới bê lên cho (chỉ gọi coca + cốc đá thôi). Nhân viên bê đồ ăn lên thì mặt hằm hằm, chảo nóng cũng chẳng thèm nói tiếng nào cho KH tránh ra, cứ bê chảo lên rồi thả thẳng trước mặt KH, như làm cho xong việc vậy. = Cảm nhận và cảm xúc bên trên không hề bị ảnh hưởng bởi yếu tố khác ngoài quán, do trước khi bước vào quán thì vợ chồng mình vẫn rất vui vẻ.
