As a long time Hilton Honors member, first impressions were nothing but typical of any Hilton property: clean, quick acknowledgement by friendly staff. However after just a few hours after checking in, Hanoi Hilton Garden Inn started a 7 day/ 6 night stay of FAR EXCEEDING ANY OTHER Hilton property in my well traveled, 9 yr relationship with the Hilton brand!!! Here’s my detailed account of why you should choose NO OTHER hotel BUT Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi:
They text me Few hrs after check in to ask how my check in went, if my room met my expectations and if I needed anything to please let them know. I’ve never had another Hilton do that!
Well just so happened we arrived for 1 night stay to meet up with our travel companion but due to visa issues he didn’t come. Now what to do since he was our Vietnam experienced tour guide for our 8 days in Vietnam? Don’t fear, the staff at the front desk have many tour Books, obviously live and work in the Hanoi area and after explaining our predicament, they were more than happy to offer their top picks of “must dos” for the dumb Americans who arrived with no set plans. We gathered their lists and tour books and went about planning our week. They even offered me “non-tourist” suggestions of must do food and culinary ideas including my American culinary hero Anthony Bourdain’s must eat Hanoi street food stops, their personal Bán chan, phó best of the best and guided our decisions for tours of newer, more luxury but lesser known/rated cruises for a 3 day/2 night Ha Long Bay (MUST, must do if in N. Vietnam) with AClass cruise tours which also included a culinary class so I could use to write off as business expense part of my cruise ticket.
The staff welcomed us daily, the bartenders remembered our specific drinks and our typical 2 bowl peanut consumption so by day 3 they just brought 2 bowls out immediately which made us feel like new friends. They arranged our daily Grab taxis & gave good tip by handing us hotel business card to offer taxi driver on return for address. Free washer & dryer use on the 10th floor where after my 1st night, they only had a suite available for New Yrs Eve so we felt lucky to grab the last and only room left at both Hilton’s in Hanoi but afterwards, they upgraded me to stay in same room the rest of my stay without additional costs😳!!!
On our last day as I waited outside for our late prepaid airport limo to pick us up, one of the kindest front desk associates we just loved her was walking into work and asked how the cruise she helped us book went & genuinely was proud we loved her choice of cruises and thanked us profusely for our stay. When our limo was 10 min late, an amazing male associate who had been calling the limo service and conveyed his concern for our driver who would only say “he was close” and fought for us to have the company refund our $$ and advised us to go on so not to miss our flight with a Grab taxi he just called for us. And as all this had just wrapped up, our airport limo finally arrived 15 min late and that same associate in Vietnamese fought for our best interest and “chewed him out basically” then advised us to go and he would “take care of canceling the grab taxi” for us. They all lined the steps to bid us farewell, our new forever friends. All spoke amazing English, made our stay so enjoyable, abolished all our preconceived apprehensions being in Vietnam Not speaking the language but taught us the basics and the very confusing Dong-to US$ conversion. And...more texts after we left from Ly & Thu to again thank us for our stay, wish us safe travels & invite us back if ever back in Hanoi. What an amazing Hilton property but NOT the hotel at all, but 100% due to each & every staff member & their desire to make your stay to their country special & tailor it to your specific wishes. ONLY go to Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi if you want a personalized, kind, open, genuine Cultural...
Read moreMy husband and I received a Hilton gift card to use while we were on our honeymoon in Vietnam and decided to treat ourselves to a night mid-trip in what we thought would be a nice hotel room. We went in person to make the reservation and were told using the gift card wouldn't be a problem and they could take it once we checked in. The day that we checked in, they told us they couldn't take it yet, but would charge it once we'd checked out which made sense. I immediately regretted booking the hotel when we got into our room. It smelled musty, and there was what looked to be remnants of black mold around the air conditioning grate. The biggest issue though was when we checked out. We gave the gentleman at the front desk our gift card and he said it "wasn't working" and we'd have to give an alternate form of payment. I asked him if there was a manager we could speak to since this was a brand new, unused gift card and he flatly said 'no' and that he was acting manager on duty and no one else would be in until later. I basically begged for someone to follow up with us, and he begrudgingly wrote down our information, but he didn't bother to offer any solutions at all to try to rectify things. If he's an acting manager, he shouldn't be, because he clearly did not care. His CashierID was 89, but I don't remember his name. BTW, we never heard anything from them after the fact. I asked to use their phone to try to call the number on the card to troubleshoot but because it was an international number it wasn't possible. I used their lounge computer to try to check the balance on the gift card and every time I clicked 'continue' the website would not load. There are so so many amazing hotels in Hanoi for a fraction of the price that are leagues better than this dusty Hilton, and you'll be treated like a human being. Frankly, if this is how Hilton runs their business, I won't be staying in one again. We still have our unused gift card and I'll just be throwing it away since you apparently only buy them as a keepsake...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi in May 2025 for 6 nights and loved every single day. ||From the moment we were welcomed inside, to the moment we said goodbye, we were always presented with big cheerful and genuine smiles from the wonderful staff.||No matter what time of the day or night we came or left, there were always staff waving hello or goodbye.||All the hotel facilities were fine….the waiting lounge was comfortable and spacious, the downstairs bar and dining was relaxing and inviting (try their Bun Cha….outstanding!!!) and all up no problems at all with anything.||Our room was lovely and spacious with plenty of storage and a good size bathroom, yes the carpet was looking a bit tired but that shouldn’t bother anyone as it’s such a minor thing. Our room was our oasis when the streets of Hanoi got too much for us.||The hotel location is great, just out of the way enough from the real tourist areas yet walkable to Hoan Kiem Lake and Old Quarter (or a cheap Grab/ Taxi if you prefer). |We found walking was terrific as there was so much local activity between the hotel and the lake area.|We always felt safe, we always had locals saying hello as we past them plus we found some terrific restaurants (also street food but we didn’t do that).|I think the location is a real drawcard to staying here. (the big bank next door will change up your dong denominations if you need - so handy)||Buffet breakfast was outstanding…..plenty of selection, Eastern, Western, Hot, Cold, Juices, Fruit, eggs prepared on order, and delicious pho….the dining area was spacious, very clean, very welcoming and was a highlight of our stay.| |But the best part of our Hilton Garden Inn stay, was the beautiful staff. |From the front desk, to the porters, to the breakfast crew and even the cleaning personnel…..always professional, always helpful, always smiling, always happy to chat and always making sure their guests are happy.||They felt like family….a really nice feeling when your away from home. ||We will...
