We spent 5 nights at this peaceful, cozy and classy villa. The place in itself is wonderful: You eat breakfast in a beautiful inner courtyard in front of the pool, surrounded by the grapefruit trees and small ponds with small fish in them. Altough the place is a bit farther from the old town, you can use a bike to get there in like 5 minutes so it was never a problem.|||||| The room we had had a king sized bed, a fridge (really practical to stock up on water, beer, or whatever you like). We also had a big flat screen tv in front of the bed that we really enjoyed for those early nights in to cuddle while watching a movie.||||But what really makes this place shine are the two hostess. They were truly helpful in booking our activities. We were limited on time and wanted to combine visiting the My Son ruins with the Bana Hills. No tours doing both existed so they found us a very professional private driver and did it all in one day.||||They ask what you want for breakfast the day before so it's ready in no time in the morning, allowing you to go on with your day quickly. They also gave us extra local food (the shrimp and egg spring rolls, a real delight) in the morning just so we could try it.||||At first I was kind of reluctant at their eagerness to help us plan the activities. I thought they just wanted to sell us as much things as possible but I was wrong: they only want to help you. The price for the activities or our bus tickets were actually lower than the other places we compared to.||||They are always smiling and ready to help you with anything you might need.||||I definitely recommend this place and if we're lucky enough to come back to Hoi Han one day I know for sure where we will stay: The Green...
Read moreGreen Grapefruit Villa. Sounds juicy, promises citrus, but what you really get is a mushroom farm on the ceiling. The bathroom blinds and ceiling have started their own fungi colony. Not exactly the interior design you brag about on Instagram.
The room is big, fridge included, with a tiny kitchen annex in case you want to cosplay Gordon Ramsay. Highlight of the show? A window between bedroom and bathroom. With blinds. Because sometimes you want privacy, and sometimes you want to watch your partner floss from bed. Wink wink.
Outside is where it gets better. There’s a pool. And it’s a genuinely nice one. Perfect in the evening when the sun isn’t trying to grill you like street-side skewers. If you squint past the ceiling mushrooms, you can almost believe you’re on vacation.
Enter the owner. A one-woman sales department. Before check-in she pitched us everything: shows, tours, tailor, and—grand finale—her nephew as our airport driver. We said no thanks, we’ve got Tien, the GOAT of drivers. Next morning, just after 9, comes knocking at the door. Surprise! Nephew taxi, ready to take us to the airport… nine hours before our flight. Did she actually think we’d drop our own plans, bow to the nephew, and camp out at the terminal like lost luggage? Mind-bending logic.
Verdict: 3 out of 5. Spacious room, nice pool, voyeur-friendly bathroom window. But wrapped in relentless upselling and enough moisture to grow your own...
Read moreWe spent 10 relaxing days at the Green Grapefruit. The neighborhood is quiet, yet is within a short walk to the river and Old Town. We enjoyed quiet mornings and exploring the many nearby restaurants. The ladies running the hotel are super friendly and helpful, we looked forward to chatting with them every day. The place has a communal feel without being overbearing. It is set in a secret garden, with many beautiful plants, all well tended to by the owner's dad whom I grew very fond of. We loved our time here, it was a beautiful place to start our...
