Over many years (and recently the last 2 years), I've stayed in several different accommodations throughout Hoi An. The Papaya Gardens Homestay is the best so far (comparatively speaking regarding the nightly tariff). It has all the charm and genuine family friendliness of a homestay as well as all the facilities of a boutique hotel. Located in Cam Chau ward, down a quiet, medium-sized alley (car accessible) and an easy chilled walk into the Old Town (via a couple of different routes), with good restaurants and a Winmart located very close by. So its location is perfect. Both of the rooms I stayed in were air-conditioned, very clean and functional, having a comfortable (medium soft) bed, refrigerator, small table & chairs, flatscreen TV, good WiFi signal, a wardrobe, a pedestal fan, and a private bathroom of a decent size. The only two small faults I can mention are that the hot water reservoir is small (so you need to take very short showers...and don't use the rainshower option) and the TV only had a few English channels (not all the Box channels were available). These faults are no inconvenience, so my 5 star rating still applies. The property boasts a lovely, clean swimming pool, an undercover eating area (where the inclusive breakfast occurs), a Cafe (next door), a reception lobby area (with seating) and a covered section at the front for motorbikes. The property is secured at night as they close and lock the gates. The building has three levels of accommodation, but only stairs to access each level. The family that hosts the homestay is truly wonderful and are a pleasure. During my stays, the lady offered me many of her garden grown fruits, a mango smoothie, a local cake, and a lovely Christmas hamper to take when I left. Overall, I had two fantastic experiences and can highly recommend this homestay for soloists, couples,...
Read moreThe best stay ever and for many reasons! The host and family are incredibly nice and we felt so welcomed there. The house is very modern with big rooms, comfy beds, and nice warm showers. The location is great on a quiet alleyway street close to the river and easy walking to old town. Breakfast was different everyday and delicious served hot and also with fresh juice and fruits. The pool is also very good. She also helped us get a ride back to Da Nang so everything was convenient and effortless. We would love to stay here again in the future and highly recommend for anyone. Thank...
Read moreCouldn’t think of a better homestay to stay at in Hoi An! The family is so friendly & sweet, especially the lady which is also the mother of the sweetest little girl!
The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable & it’s very quiet - so perfect for a good nights rest!
Breakfast changes every morning, together with the fruit & smoothie!
We’ll miss it!!
*Just a note, that from the 25 water bottles we had, 5 were free & for the others we had to pay 7.000 dong each. Not a problem for us, but would’ve been nice to...
