Booked a 5D4N stay for a trip with friends and our experience started out alright. Location was 10 minutes from the airport and grab rides to the city centre were not so bad. Upon check-in, we arrived at our rooms and found that for a renowned hotel chain, their rooms were pretty old. Decor was outdated (you could say vintage) and corners of the bathroom were brown which made us a little uncomfortable. Staff knocked and rang our bell before 10am in the morning for housekeeping which was unusually early. But that’s not the worst part. During the first day’s check in, we were told that if we informed the concierge beforehand, we could secure our breakfast buffet at 10 USD++ per person (to be charged to our room) but if we decided to walk-in to the restaurant for breakfast, we would be charged 18 USD ++. We thought about this and decided we wanted breakfast for day 2 ONLY. We checked with the concierge in day 1 night about this and made it very clear we only wanted breakfast for one day. Hotel staff (Thu) said okay and yes to everything we said (basically 10 USD++ per person for 1 breakfast). We signed a paper slip indicating we agree to have breakfast at 10 USD ++ per person and that the cost was to be charged to our room. Verbally we were assured that it would only be for ONE day. We checked multiple times that it’s ONLY for tomorrow and Thu said yes. The day before our check-out (day 4), we decided to have breakfast in the hotel on day 5, our last day. Once again, we checked with and informed the concierge of our intention to have breakfast, expecting another slip of paper to sign but we were told “ok” and that’s it. I asked if all we had to do was tell them our room number and they said yes. Both times we went to the restaurant for breakfast, the staff never once checked our room number against any document. They always nodded their heads and said to go in.
On the day of our check-out, we were meant to pay the outstanding balance only to realise we were charged for 4 days of breakfast. We informed the concierge that we did not agree to 4 days of breakfast and only informed the concierge of 2 explicit intentions to have breakfast there. Concierge was very unhelpful and pointed to the paper slip we signed, saying that we agreed to 4 breakfasts and that it was never conveyed as 1 breakfast only. We were shocked because we confirmed with Thu many times. Horrible experience because it’s their words against ours. They called their manager in and she explained the same thing to us while we were trying to explain that it was not clear to begin with. Eventually, the manager decided to check with the restaurant if it’s true that we only ate 2 breakfasts and if so, we will only be charged for 2 breakfasts. Shockingly, she came back to us and said that the restaurant staff saw us “enjoying the breakfast for the entire stay”. First of all, it was an accusation with no basis. When we asked for proof, the manager said it will take too long to come up with them. Secondly, there was no document to show us as their staff never once cross-checked our room number. How would anyone feel after being called a liar when we know for a fact we didn’t eat their breakfast? The whole saga ended with the manager saying that PARKROYAL will absorb the cost of our 2 “additional” breakfast and we only need to pay for what we requested for. We were made to feel like they did us a favour when we were accused and almost made late for our flight because of the back and forth conversations. *The manager offered to compensate us by packing extra breakfast (on our last day lol) and sending us to the airport. Please make it make sense. Why would I want to take leftover breakfast food to my flight?
If this is how Pan Pacific group treats their guests, I will never be recommending this hotel group to any of my colleagues, family and friends. Truly the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had. Suffice to say, I won’t be back and PARKROYAL and the Pan Pacific group will be...
Read moreMy partner and I recently had the unfortunate experience of hosting our wedding banquet at Park Royal Saigon.
Firstly, the banquet in charge seemed completely unaware of our event details, consistently mixing up our requests and failing to execute even the simplest tasks, such as coordinating our entrance song and background music. Reason given to us was, no information passed down to him from sales side.
To compound matters, projectors did not even ON nor tested till i reached hotel at 5pm because rushing from my ceremony. They only manage to rectify projector issue only at 5.35 PM which make us so nervous beacause our reception begins at 6PM so i need to rush to change to get ready for reception. Technical difficulties plagued the evening, particularly with the sound system. The background music failed to play smoothly, disrupting the ambiance we had hoped to create.
Additionally, we had arranged for 10 choux pastries to be set on each table. However, when 3 of my relatives shifted to another table, resulting in 13 guests at one table, the staff refused to transfer the extra pastries from the original table. Consequently, our guests had to awkwardly share the limited treats, detracting from the dining experience.
Adding to our frustrations, we discovered a shortfall in our wedding favors. We bought 250 pieces passed to the hotel for our 22 tables of 10 guests each, we were informed after the event that there were no remaining favors due to some guests supposedly requesting extras. This inconsistency in handling our personalized items left us deeply disappointed. My question is, the staff can't transfer existing food on table to another table but anyhow given away MY wedding favours (which probably kept in their office or somewhere else) without asking me or my family?
Today the hotel's proposed solution of reimbursing us for the missing favors does little to address our concerns. Our disappointment lies not in the financial aspect but in the breach of trust we placed in the hotel to execute our special day flawlessly. We had meticulously selected and personalized favours
In summary, the litany of issues we encountered, compounded by the missing wedding favors, overshadowed what should have been a joyous occasion at Park Royal Saigon. We share our experience in the hope that it will serve as a cautionary tale for other couples, guiding them to choose a venue that truly values and respects their wedding day.
P.S.: I appreciate the chefs for their nice food and generous portion and some of the part timers really did well. This 1 star...
Read moreI enjoyed then congee every morning, it was perfectly tasty in every way, it’s the way a Chinese congee should be. The bacon was pretty inconsistent. On some days it was though and hard, I can use it to cut my sunny side up instead of using a knife. On others, it smelt like game food, like the pig was caught in the jungle, or it was roadkill. The seafood buffet dinner, a must and worthwhile. The lobster that came complimentary, just excellent. But the river prawns were mushy and freshness was questionable. And in every meal I had, there will always be exotic food like crocodile meat and ostrich, even in breakfast that is. Fortunately, they don’t serve dogs. A popular hotel for businessmen, the crowd which I see. It was nice there was no tour coaches of appalling tourist. Behind some walking distance away, the narrow streets with lots of local eateries, the vibe of Ho Chi Min. This is no entertainment district so you will find a lack of “fun” that most seek. The room was well kept and clean, but the mattress disagreed with me. Had 4 nights of bad sleep, I sank into the bed my back a concave arch. It’s so near the airport, you don’t have to worry about traffic arriving or leaving. Good stay for those who’s meetings are just a short taxi ride to the ETowns nearby. The only draw back if your room faces the traffic like mine, sirens, horns and the drone...
