I stayed at the Vinpearl Landmark 81 (Autograph Collection) hotel for 8 nights: July 12th to July 20th, 2025. Below are my views on good (+) and not-good (-) about this hotel. In the end, my final evaluation (the number of stars) is heavily based on the quality of my interactions with staff as a guest and a loyal member.
Good things: Their welcoming gift and the decoration in the room, by far, were the best compared to all of the other hotels. This was the only hotel where we could not eat all the sweet treats in the welcome gift, as there were many of them: the landmark tower made of chocolate was super amazing. Huong (at club lounge) was extremely helpful in offering to help with finding a place to travel over the weekends and tickets for concerts. Always served us with a welcoming big smile and was polite. With her super hospitality, Thu (at the breakfast restaurant on the 66th floor) spent a lot of time with me and my wife and provided help with the food that I was hoping to have while I was in Vietnam. In particular, she ordered three special local delicacies for last three days: Com tam, Pho, and bun cha. She pre-ordered fresh coconuts every day. I wished that I had met her at the beginning of my stay. Binh was the best club lounge manager that I have ever met in the Marriott system. He spent time talking to us, providing helpful information about local food and attractions, and taking care of us extremely well whenever we were in the Club lounge. While the other hotels (Sheraton Tay Ho Hanoi and JW Marriott Hanoi) in Vietnam under-treated me as an ambassador member (which has been very strange for me, given the fact that I grew up here in Vietnam), Binh showed that that was not true for all hotels in Vietnam. Binh has exceeded all of my expectations. When I asked Binh where to buy a special traditional delicacy (Banh Tet and Banh U) in the south of Vietnam, he secretly made an overnight order to have it delivered to us the following day. It was totally a nice surprise to me as he did so on his own initiative. I originally would stay at Vinpearl Landmark 81 for 4 nights, but given such hospitality from Binh, we decided to cancel the other hotel (sorry), and stayed another 4 nights at Vinpearl Landmark 81. Binh also moved me to a different suite with a different and nice view (with more privacy) for the last four nights. Given the fact that it was in the middle of the summer and this hotel managed to upgrade me to the best suite (in their ability: many hotels just give you the lowest option) for all 8 nights, it showed that this hotel really means to treat their elite guests extremely well. Though their suites (and I guess their rooms too, as with most Autograph Collection hotels) are small, the view from this hotel to the surrounding area is spectacular. The surrounding area is also super clean and organized compared to the surrounding area, and the big river-front park in front of the hotel is really nice with a beautiful koi pond. The breakfast on the 66th floor is wonderful with many items: I haven’t tried all of them (as I focused on vegetables and fruits). They change the soup dishes every day, which is nice (my wife loved that as she enjoyed Vietnamese soups). The people there recognized elite members well (though not the same level as Sheraton Opera Saigon). The happy hours at the club lounge are fantastic with local and international items. The people who escort people in and out of cars are always polite and welcoming.
Not-good things: They do not have a person (holding a manager position) to welcome ambassador members (to make you feel special as an elite member). For example, at the Sheraton Opera Saigon, the club lounge manager, the director of rooms, and the general manager came to greet me when I checked in. Given the fact that this hotel is not close to many attractions in the city, a shuttle bus to the city and back regularly every day would be very nice. Not sure why they didn’t do so like many...
Read moreHonestly not that impressed with the hotel facilities and service, given the high esteem and price tag surrounding this building.
Rooms were not serviced or cleaned thoroughly on any of our 4 days (no linen change despite visibly needing so, in-room cups and mugs were not cleaned or swapped out, amenities were not replenished correctly).
Room conditions were not great - carpet visibly soiled from past guests, A/C did not cool the room properly during the day (e.g. set to 20°C, but actual room temp 25°), panoramic windows were all dirty, diminishing the stunning view to be had. Slippers were not even provided for guests despite the status of the hotel and the soiled carpet.
Service was not as good as expected from a “luxury” hotel - front desk staff did not take initiative to greet you whenever you you entered the lobby (heads down, mostly ignoring guests), guests waiting 15+ minutes to check out were not offered a drink even though those waiting for check-in around them were, which I feel would be a minute common courtesy to improve customer satisfaction. On day of departure, one of the doormen kept grabbing my phone and would not return it until the other bellman helping us with our luggage told him to give it back. He would keep staring at my phone and made the entire encounter very uncomfortable and unusual by repeating odd questions despite showing absolutely no interest in whatever “help” he was attempting to provide. Would expect a much higher level of professionalism from this facility, like the bellman who helped with our luggage and our check-out process to ensure we were helped in a more timely manner.
Billing needed to be double checked - if you purchase a package with included perks, always make sure you double check the itemized bill. Our free cocktails per guest per day were not honored until we corrected them twice about the line charges.
PUBLIC AMENITIES were great, however. Loved the efficient no-contact elevator function. The restaurant on the 66th floor maintained a fully stocked and clean, calm breakfast buffet. They took drink orders promptly, the variety was excellent, and we were always greeted by guest names upon arrival. Akoya spa was also beautifully managed and the entire experience flowed smoothly, calmly, and was everything you could expect from a higher end hotel spa (besides being unable to enjoy the pool due to scheduled maintenance). Staff was friendly and accommodating at the spa and had excellent communication via email for reservations and changes.
TL;DR I expected a lot more from the hotel and have experienced much better service at a lower price point elsewhere in Vietnam. The Vinpearl’s public amenities (restaurant, spa) were excellent and the public-facing lobbies were beautiful. An unprofessional doorman encounter made facility feel trashy.
I would not jump on the opportunity to stay here again. It has a great view if you’re willing to sacrifice some...
Read moreVinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection (Marriott) is a 5-Star excellent hotel. It was one of the best hotels I have stayed at in a long time with an amazing staff. I feel bad as I took the names of many staff personal at the Vinpearl Landmark 81 that were so kind and helpful to me, but I misplaced it. But the hotel was truly amazing service.
It is located District 2, and connected to a mall which is great for options from shopping, movies, to restaurants. It has many food options around it, spas, and shops. It is a 5-10min taxi to District 2, and extremely safe area (all of HCMC is safe).
The star is the breakfast buffet each day at the Vin Pearl restaurant 66 floor. The manager Tan and his staff of Mui and Joy and so many other wonderful faces I saw each day at breakfast that made it so special. This breakfast buffet is one of the best I have seen at any hotel, with so many options. It had egg station with chefs, it had a long line of many items to chose from including proteins, hashbrowns, rice, and more. It had a fruit table with more then 20 different selections. Pancakes and Waffle station, along with many different pasties to select from croissants to chocolate covered pastries. It had a pho bar for fresh pho every morning that I enjoyed. Then of course many beverages to choose, which I enjoyed fresh juice and vietnemese ice coffee everyday. The service here was first class!
The hotel has a nice spa, gym and patio pool. The spa includes sauna, steam room, and hot tub with showers and lockers to use afterwards. The gym is nice with many weight and cardio machines.
The rooms are all new and modern, with many amenities. There was a standup shower and bath tub in the room. The views in this hotel are stunning of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
We held an event here for work, and the staff that assisted for the even were just amazing. Ms. Lam that handled our event was great in the planning, and assisted with all requests. She was very kind and helpful. Chris who handled refreshments and tea/coffee break for our room was excellent and such a delight to work with, along with his coworkers. I would hold another work event here thanks to the staff and all the accommodations.
I can't stop praising the Vinpearl Landmark 81 Hotel Staff. The front desk reps were nice, the concierges were all so helpful, and just overall what a well trained and kind great staff. I wish I had the names to personally thank them all here, and if I find it I'll make sure to praise them all to the GM of the hotel. Well done, and thank you from me and my company staff that stayed 2 weeks at the Vinpearl Landmark...
