A Tranquil Paradise with Exceptional Service: Our Champa Island Resort & Spa Experience
From the outset, Champa Island Resort & Spa in Nha Trang, Vietnam, set a high standard for our stay. The welcome drinks, early check-in, and a complimentary upgrade to a two-bedroom suite overlooking the river were just the beginning of a memorable experience. The suite’s view and spaciousness provided the perfect setting for relaxation and comfort.
The standout feature of Champa Island, however, was the exemplary service from the staff. The warmth and friendliness of Bang Chau, Do Quyen, Vi, Cong Nang, and Nam made us feel exceptionally welcomed and attended to. Their efforts significantly enhanced our stay, demonstrating the resort's commitment to outstanding hospitality.
For fitness enthusiasts like us, especially with a triathlete in the family, the resort's long outdoor pool and outdoor gym were indispensable amenities. The pool, always at a comfortable temperature, and the well-equipped gym allowed us to maintain our fitness routine in a beautiful setting.
The breakfast buffet was another highlight, offering a wide variety of delicious options. The staff were friendly, attentive to detail, extremely accomidating, and ensured that items were promptly replenished.
We pre-booked just over a week at Champa Island Resort, followed by a week at another 5 star hotel centrally located and by the beach in Nha Trang. Our goal was to find the best reasonably priced hotel while in Nha Trang for the remainder of our stay. After a few days at the other hotel, it was clear Champa Island Hotel is our preferred choice.
Practical Insights:
Champa Island's location on the northern side of town offers a quieter experience with minimal traffic noise, though you might catch some enthusiastic karaoke performances from across the river. The resort provides a complimentary daily shuttle service to Nha Trang center and the beach, adding convenience to its tranquil setting. For additional flexibility, we often used Grab, a reliable and easy-to-use ride-hailing service, for our return trips. Once you're at the Nha Trang center, for shopping and dining, a variety of shops and restaurants are found along the streets running parallel to the beach, the main ones we enjoyed started from about the 2nd, 3rd street from the beach.
Some of the coffee shops we enjoyed while in Nha Trang were Giong, Jungle Coffee, and Alpaca which are great for working remotely.

Read moreWe were really looking forward to our stay at Champa Resort, but unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. Upon arrival, we dropped our luggage in the room and took a walk around the property. While the grounds are lovely and would make a beautiful setting for a wedding or special event, there wasn’t much else to offer.||The resort is surrounded by a scenic ocean inlet, but there were no water activities available which was surprising for a coastal property. The only amenities were two pools, and one had ongoing construction. The functioning pool had no shaded areas at all, making it difficult to enjoy in the heat.||With nothing to do on-site, we returned to our room to relax. That’s when things took a turn. A cockroach ran across the bed, and upon further inspection, we found clear signs of bed bugs in both beds. We immediately packed our bags and went to the front desk to report the issue.||Shockingly, the staff showed no concern or apology for the presence of bugs. Instead, they seemed more interested in checking that we hadn’t taken anything from the minibar. No empathy, no solution offered, just indifference.||Extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this resort especially if you value cleanliness, customer service, or...
