Coco Garden Resort Phú Quốc — Hotel in Phú Quốc

3 star only because is a new hotel with a nice design. I’m very disappointed in a services. First I came to book a room in a hotel and the guards don’t speak any English anc they are rudely just showing me no entry. I used google translate and explained that I need a reception , I came to book a room. They still said no. Because I saw in other comments same thing happen to other people I had to insist. Only when I got angry they called the hotel on a radio and wanted me to be standing on a road and talking through a radio. That’s ridiculous and didn’t work. And finally I got let in. but the girl at reception spoke good English and was very hospitable. She showed me everything and I booked a room. I asked to bring to chairs for outside area, I asked if it’s possible to do a late breakfast (she says yes), I paid extra 30% for late check out. There is no cafe or restaurant around, it’s a pretty remote area. So I check a few times about late breakfast.

On a day we stayed - no chairs (I had ti spend time again organizing it ), next day when I came to reception about our breakfast I’ve been told that it’s over at 10 am that’s it. Again when I just woke up I had to explain about late breakfast, that I asked about it. And it would not make sends for us to pay extra 30% for late check out and sit hangry until 3 pm , since there is no other place we can get food. They made us omelets and coffee. Coffee is extremely bad - it all sugar. They dont have a regular milk, just condensed milk. No milk in a resort 😅

You would think that I’m just a negative person who can’t enjoy vacation, but I’m just tired of a very bad basic services. Especially on a birthday when we wanted to relax, not negotiate an omelette. I was ready to pay extra for everything. If they said from the start that they can provide what I asked - no problem , I would book something else or I would make other arrangements regarding breakfast and our schedule. So I’m more mad about that.

The hotel is beautiful and it still new. The swimming pool is nice and rooms are good. Everything works. And it’s very very quiet place. But please do something with the basic services for your guests and understand that we don’t want to spend our vacation day’s negotiating and talking to you for elemental things. And I feel bad by asking for chairs or breakfast because the personal wants to help, they just really bad at communicating with each other and understanding how it works . The resort and the bungalows are very nice and clean but it is very far away from the main street and the hotel doesn‘t offer any service or help with renting a motorbike or car. The next rental agency is a 45-minute walk away and you are not allowed to use the hotel bikes to get there. The staff and the service at Coco Garden Resort was a disaster. Communication was only possible via translation app since none of the hosts speaks English. The staff was unfriendly, almost rude, and gave us the feeling of us disturbing them using their smartphones. The inability of the staff also lead to multiple issues, for example did no one tell us about the breakfast times wherefore we missed breakfast once. There was neither a word of apology nor the offer of any compensation. The breakfast itself was okay (eggs or noodles) but rather basic. For a resort like that you usually would expect more variation or at least some fresh fruits, juice or vegetables. Also there was no room service during the three nights we stayed there. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, as are the bathrooms. You have a small terrace outside your room where you can relax. All the houses are facing the pool. The location is very good if you want to visit Star Beach, visit the Grand World Safari or different waterfalls, etc. It is about 55 minutes from Sunset Town. The space is very good and you have the beach 7 minutes away (private beach for the people of the resort). You can bring your own food, something to drink and enjoy the waves and the calm. The resort is very quiet and safe. I recommend knowing how to drive a motorcycle or bicycle, since the island has long distances and there is not much public transportation. They rent motorcycles there and they also have bicycles so you can get around. They serve breakfast every day and you can choose between 3 options and something to drink.
