The food is meh at best . We tried every restaurant . We really only enjoyed room service. The Oku restaurant should just drop the U and be Ok. We got the most expensive steaks they had and both were trash . The A5 was crispy with most flavor seared right out of it. We also got the Australian wagyu and it was just bad - tough, no flavor... All just poorly cooked and poor quality. Even the miso rice was terrible. We enjoyed the bread and okra, and that's it. Save your time . The ocean club was alright; burger was sub par. Pizza was the same. Entertainment was absolutely nil. They have no music. No fire show . No nightly anything. No collaborations with local attractions. No shuttle. Nothing. Its just like an airport - big construction and nothing to do. Actually, that's not fair to some airports they have more to do than the Regent.
Hours of operation for everything from the pools to bike rentals are absurdly early. Bikes are done by 6p, which makes zero sense considering sunset is 630. Most pools are closed at 7, and then you have some weird one that a whole bar watches you swim that's till ten . The spa we skipped, which we never do . We always hit the spas. The descriptions of the treatments made little sense. The prices were absurdly high for being in a saturated spa market. But it really wasn't the price, it was the menu . The billiards area is closed so early too. I have never seen a hotel just close down at 7pThey are like the other IHG properties: build a building that people want pictures with and then just drop the ball in every way after. This is my 3rd IHG hotel in a year, all high-end, absolutely all the same problems. Let's talk about the beaches. This water is horrid. We cleaned trash up with 5 other guests and two staff members out of the water. We filled 6 construction black bags. They said it was currents. It is not . A bit of research the water is one of the most polluted bodies of water in the world. Phu Quoc farms fish and just dumps all the waste into the sea. Then most places don't have septic so they dump that in as well. Add the plastic its like the floating island of trash in the pacific. After cleaning up the plastic I had looked all this up and didn't get in the water again. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOURSELF OR KIDS DO NOT SWIM IN THAT WATER. I took a sample home just out of curiosity. They clean the sand area. After my comments, I saw them doing it everyday . THIS IS NOT THE 2ND MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND IN THE WORLD. PROMISE. BOTTOM 3 FOR ME. .
Regent does ordering of everything thru the website and app. Which in theory is nice but its just big game of text and wait. In 3 days i have over a 100 messages with them . What a absolute waste of my time and vacation. They think they are being helpful by having low management come talk to you if you have a problem which just wastes more time. The only conversation I enjoyed and felt made progress was with Doro, he seemed to get it. It would be so so much easier to have a operator. I'm young and love tech but they just don't have it figured out
The other odd thing was who works on elevators in the peak of the day? All for it to not work after anyway. Most luxury hotels work on them at night or not peak time. We just kept using the stairs instead of waiting. All in 100 degrees.
I want to be clear, I'm not some guy that likes to be out all night partying. I don't even drink. But I do like something to do. They have "classes" thru out the day . They advertise 45 minutes they are 25 max, and only for 6 people AT MOST. The cooking cake class was cool, but you don't make your own . You share a whisk with 5 other people, lol. The class teacher was awesome and great English. Just the hotel skimping out. Then my girl did the flower arrangement class she enjoyed it but also very fast. You did get to keep your own flowers, tho which was nice. All these activities are weak and something you would do at your grandparents' house, but at least your grandparents might let you ride a bike past 6 pm, lol I was limited by Google full review on trip advisor and...

Regent Phu Quoc served as the sole reason for my journey to Vietnam, and I must emphasize that the property exceeds expectations, surpassing even the allure portrayed in photos.
Upon arrival, Throng, the Regent Airport representative, initiated my experience with a warm greeting, addressing me by name and ensuring a seamless arrival process. Throng's genuine hospitality extended to the passionate driver, whose name escapes me, as they efficiently assisted with my luggage. Throng, ever gracious, provided cold towels and detailed information about the car amenities before bidding me farewell, expressing gratitude for choosing Regent. During the drive, the driver, delighted to learn that Regent brought me to Vietnam, conveyed best wishes for my stay. Upon reaching the lobby, a warm welcome awaited me from Irina, the Dedicated Regent Experience Agent supervisor, and Lucas, a Regent Experience Agent, both displaying genuine enthusiasm, addressing me by name, and expressing gratitude for choosing Regent.
Acknowledging my special requests, Irina assured me of her willingness to assist further, fostering a sense of genuine value. Lucas, impressed me with his professionalism & cheerfulnes

Chef Audi Hayun, a fellow Indonesian, the Executive Chef, left a lasting impression with his passion, humility, and customer-oriented approach. He even cook off the menu breakfast for me. The omakase dining experience at Oku, recommended by Chef Audi, was exceptional, showcasing meticulous crafting of dishes. no doubt, Oku is highly rated. Among the dishes, there isn't a single one I don't enjoy. Each dish is meticulously crafted, with a perfect balance of flavors that will WOW you in every bite, thanks to Chef Andy Huynh.
Chef Daniel, the pastry chef, added to the culinary delights with exquisite & delectable freshly bakedcroissants.
Irina's professional check-out procedures, Jennie's excellent spa experience, and the warm hospitality from staff like Viet( lobby ) , Daniel( bar jade ), Lam( rice market ) , Titi (regent kids )and Thinh( driver) all contributed to a memorable stay.
Special thanks to Mr. Sriram, the GM, for his inspiring leadership. Regent, with its dedicated team, truly made me feel at home away from home, leaving me with countless fond memories and new friends. I eagerly anticipate returning with family and friends for another...
Read moreI would like to emphasise that the hotel itself is state of the art. Our villa was extremely spacious and furnished in good taste, and the bathroom especially was very luxurious. All the food served at the resort is also exquisite.
Unfortunately, I have deducted one star for each of three severe shortcomings during our stay at Regent, which we deem entirely unacceptable at a resort of this high price and reputation:
We had booked a beachfront candlelight dinner for one evening during our stay, as a special honeymoon treat, and the set-up for this was beautiful with torches and flowers and a palm tree above the table. Sadly, it started to rain before we could start the dinner. At this point we were moved to a regular table in the resort’s Ocean Club restaurant where we ate the dinner we had booked. The food was perfectly presented and absolutely delicious. However, the table we ended up eating at had no decoration, and was located by the exit to the restaurant where staff and guests constantly opened the door and there was a lot of commotion. We understand that rain is a risk in Phu Quoc, but we expected a resort of this calibre to have prepared a more special plan-B for this romantic candlelight dinner, with a bit more privacy and/or decorations. When we book and pay for a dinner of this type we are not first and foremost doing so for the food, but for the experience. So it left a sour taste in our mouths being charged the full original price (180 USD pp without drinks) for a dinner in the resort’s least formal restaurant. When we raised our disappointment with our Regent experience agent at breakfast she explained that we had chosen to visit in the rainy season, not acknowledging that our point was not that it had rained but how the hotel had handled it.
At one point a staff member entered our room without knocking or ringing the doorbell. I was sat right by the door so I would’ve heard if he did. He made no apology and said he had come to check the minibar. After checking that nothing needed refilling he left again. This is an appalling invasion of privacy that would be completely unacceptable at any hotel, let alone a 5-star resort of Regent’s reputation. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in 74 countries and I can safely say that I have never experienced anything like this. It left us feeling utterly exposed and insecure in our own villa. When we raised our concerns about this incident at reception we were eventually offered a ride to the airport for free. Given what this costs in Vietnam we still feel disappointed with this treatment that ruined our sense of privacy in our room.
My wife doesn’t eat seafood and we had informed the resort of this in advance of our stay and the staff repeated knowledge of this dietary requirement regularly at check-in and at meals. However, at the breakfast buffet my wife asked one of the breakfast staff which dim sum was the barbecue pork dim sum on a nearby label. He replied that all the dim sum were pork dim sum. After confirming this with him again my wife took one of each, only to realise when she ate them that two of them contained seafood (prawn and fish). We understand that this was most likely a language issue but at an international chain such as Regent we expect front-facing staff to speak a certain level of English, and certainly enough to avoid guests being fed food to which they might be allergic.
To reiterate, we were very pleased with most aspects of our stay at this beautiful resort, but sadly the incidents above were all severe in nature and completely unacceptable at this price point in our opinion. We have stayed at equivalent 5-star resort chains including Four Seasons, Shangri-La and Oberoi without ever encountering such shortcomings. We really wanted to like Regent Phu Quoc and return for future stays at this and other Regent properties but we find ourselves unable to recommend the resort after these encounters. At the prices they charge we expect nothing short of excellence and on this occasion this expectation was...
