This is the restaurant that offers free breakfast for guests staying at the Sailing Club-owned Soul hotel right next door. My fiancé and I are vegan and looked at the breakfast menu before booking our stay and saw smoothie bowls on the menu which i was excited for. When we sat down for breakfast, the smoothie bowls had been taken off the menu.
So, we tried to modify one of the other dishes- an avocado bagel with cucumber. When it arrived, it was the saddest looking avocado i’d seen in my life (like the spreadable kind they serve at dunkin donuts) and the bagel was covered in butter which is not vegan so we tried to communicate to the server that we wanted another one with no dairy. The servers were extremely confused and did not understand our request even when we were using translate. Like 20 minutes later, they brought us out bagels with no butter but they forgot the avocado this time so it was just a plain bagel with like 3 cucumber slices. At this point they could see our frustration, so the manager came over and tried to come up with a solution for us.
To make a long story less long, he ended up making us smoothie bowls. And once again they were the saddest smoothie bowls I’d ever seen. Frozen strawberries and a watery smoothie tossed into a bowl. I mean really, what kind of restaurant on a tropical island can’t get their hands on some fresh fruit? Also, the owner seemed annoyed with us for having a dietary restriction rather than apologetic and willing to help. To top it all off, this was our FREE hotel breakfast and the manager tried to charge us for the smoothie bowls since they weren’t originally on the menu! We protested this and got it for free but it was insulting.
This whole process took WELL over 90 minutes. You will undoubtedly wait 20+ minutes for a black coffee if you come here; everything is an event.
My fiancé and I both work in customer service so believe me when I say we are patient and understanding with staff at places, and I don’t think i’ve ever left a bad review online in my life, but this was truly a ridiculous experience.
FYI- they should get a Vietnamese dish or two on their menu… Phu Quoc...

We took the opportunity of the offer to return for sunset drinks. We were warmly greeted by Kostya and his team. We had a yummy glass of prosecco, 1664 beer and two delicious smoothies for the boys. We also ordered some snacks - fries, wedges and hummus, which were all delicious. The games were great fun with table tennis and giant Jenga!
Original - We were really excited to try here after looking at the reviews and it's in a fabulous location. Additionally it looks family friendly so a win for us long term travelling with 2 boys!
This is by far the worst level of service we have ever experienced. Staff are uninterested, inattentive and clearly don't want to work (here) or don't like perhaps certain nationalities?
We popped in for post beach drinks yesterday afternoon and after waiting for ages (despite it not being busy) my husband went to the bar. A waitress then finally came over with 3 menus (for 4 of us). No welcome or hello and left. We chose our drinks and again had to wait for another waiter to come over. Finally drinks were ordered, again no smile, no service despite us trying to speak Vietnamese and be friendly as we always are.
Drinks were delivered with the bill! We got the message!!
Our drinks were delicious so 5* there but the overall experience from the 3 different waiting staff was absolutely appalling.
We thought we'd give them a second chance today as we wanted to watch the sunset with a sun downer.
Exactly the same experience....an empty place and the waiter finally came over to see us (we had grabbed our own menu!) and asked if we had reserved the table. We didn't realise any tables were reserved. It was now 17.20 and the reservation advised was at 19.00 so we asked if we could use it until then (as is usual in most places). We were told no, we had to move to another table which was not a problem but again it's the total lack of enthusiasm or service!
We decided to leave and take our business elsewhere! We won't give them a 3rd chance. Such a shame as it could be a...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at your sailing club on Christmas Day. We arrived at 12 PM and spent the afternoon by the pool, where the service was unacceptably slow—waiting 30-40 minutes for every order. Despite this, we stayed all day and spent a significant amount of money, as we had booked the Christmas evening meal.
When it was time for dinner, we had to queue to be seated. Shockingly, no staff came to our table for 50 minutes. Eventually, a manager named Kostyas (if I heard correctly) came over, apologized, and assured us he would personally bring our drinks. Another 30 minutes passed, and still no drinks or even water arrived. The staff appeared overwhelmed, and it seemed like they were being mistreated—at one point, we witnessed a staff member being physically dragged to our table by her arm.
When we called Kostyas over again, his attempt to make jokes felt inappropriate given the situation. The lack of organization and professionalism on such an important day was unacceptable.
After waiting another 20 minutes, our food finally arrived, but it was mediocre at best. Although Kostyas offered a complimentary bottle of wine, the chaotic experience and poor service had already ruined the evening.
To make matters worse, the bill was not properly discounted. We were given a 330k reduction on a 6.5 million bill, which felt insulting considering the experience. This small gesture did nothing to compensate for the disastrous service and the way our Christmas Day was ruined.
This was our first Christmas in Vietnam, and it was a complete disaster. We recently moved to Hanoi and had planned to return with 10 friends and family in three weeks, but we will now be canceling that booking.
Management has yet to address these issues. The way both customers and staff were treated was unacceptable. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend this...
