Shoulda posted this earlier. For once in my life, food that LIVES UP to the all the hype I read about it! Call ahead to avoid disappointment. Even the evening before if you want it early! THE BEST fish and chips in WA, hands down, for taste, value-for-money and good service. Once you've had it, I don't see the point of having Fish & Chips anywhere else but Fat Bellies, not even fancy restaurants. (You'd have to drive up to Cervantes for the closest competitor I know.) Crispy batter (just the right thinness), Thick-cut yet perfectly cooked, juicy pieces of fish, Hot chips that stay crispy even after a 15-min commute A friendly ?owner who took my order over the phone around 435pm and gave me the earliest pickup time my meal would be ready A cosily warm, rustic inside with a vintage arcade game while you wait ($1 coin) Staff who noticed I was waiting and reassured me it was coming Easy kerbside parking for pickups Shady playground 3 mins' walk in case you wanted to picnic in the park w kiddos A 2-person fish & chip meal that doesnt cost the earth to feed 3 hungry adults or your little fam. Prepare to overeat if you ordered the Fish&Chips for 2 and only have 2 adults and 2 toddlers eating. If it weren't for my weight I'd be eating here once a week. Always on point: perfect cooked fleshy flaky fish, non-oily chips, amazing value (please don't change), and I have bought Fish n chips for 4 groups of my overseas visitors - and they all say it's the best value (Taste AND Quantity!) Fish & chips they've EVER had! This from people who have eaten in Singapore, Japan, Melbourne, Sydney and some live in NZ. It's so easy to order too - call in at 430pm when they open and say what time U want to pick up. Fish n chips for 2 has never disappointed. Park in front of the store for a quick pickup. Never a longer wait than 1-5 mins this way. Get the family pack if you want a really big feed 😂 we love to have ours in Armadale Memorial Park - just a minute's walk up and around Jull St. - Lovely little park with benches in evenings. And great if you have toddlers. Fat Bellies is mine and my families local fish and chip shop, it is run by a lovely couple that work hard to bring good quality fish and chips to their customers. The service is excellent ( I call in advance and collect around 15 mins later ) I walk in to pay ( by eftpos ) and I am greeted with a smile and a warm welcome, the fish and chips are wrapped to perfection and are hot and fresh. I always order curry sauce ( which is identical to the fish shops in England ) . The fish tastes amazing, it is the whitest fish I have ever had from a chippy.
