Visited this place for the first time and was surprised to see a long line! Happy to have waited (40 mins total) and was eagerly anticipating the goods. Many items were sold out by the time we entered but still several options left, we got a combination of savoury and sweet. The staff were lovely and efficient but I was stunned when I got to the payment counter and there were multiple charges for the boxes used to pack the treats. I felt it was quite ridiculous as it is a takeaway bakery and I have never seen a takeaway packaging charge being added on except for when a customer dines in, and then decides to take the product away. Reading other experiences I now know that you can BYO containers apparently but most people would not know that and I feel it is quite absurd to add that charge. They also charge a card surcharge which is not uncommon to many businesses nowadays, but a little unfair as they are also 'cashless' unless you have the exact amount of change on you. I just felt a bit deceived after paying.
The baked goods were delicious! The beef pie with the chutney and the pork/prawn sausage roll with the soy sauce was amazing! We also loved the pistachio basque cheesecake, choux and rhubarb tart! I would still think twice before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell after hearing and seeing all the Hype. I thought I joined the que amongst 30+ fans this Saturday morning. I was impressed the owner came out and gave us some tasters and thanked everyone for waiting. Also greeted some of the repeated customers. Once i got in I ordered the beef pie and the lasagne pie as well as the Viet inspired sausage roll plus the strawberry and rhubarb tart. I must admit the $63 price tag gave me a small bill shock and I had the initial impression that surely this can't be $63 dollar good. But once I got home I was proven to be terribly wrong. Started off with the tart, it was creamy and super delightful. Something that hits the spot of a perfect dessert treat for the weekend. Then moving to the pies, for a perfect blend of filling and flavour, they have officially topped my best Pie in QLD. Then to finish the perfect Saturday brekkie, the Vietnamese inspired sausage roll had me thinking I was eating a bahn mi but in an Aussie snag roll. I was so surprised how good the sausage roll was. So in summary, worth every single cent people. Go and give it a go. But being your own containers cos they charge...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had been wanting to try this place for a long time and we finally did, we were disappointed . . . . After waiting in line for 45mins watching people come out with 2-3 bags (grocery sized bags) full of items we finally made it to the front counter to find most of the popular items sold outā¦ā¦ We ended up buying 6 items IT CAME TO $110!!!! I couldnāt believe my eyes š³ $17 for a pie!!! And they charge you for packaging!!! I nearly had a heart attack. We panicked, smiled, paid and left. When we arrived home we tried our items. I appreciate a great pie but this, this was not it. The filling being braised beef was ok, but the pastry was so buttery it tasted like I had just eaten a stick of butter 𤢠The canele and choc chip biscuit were the only items I would recommend, if I had to. Iām all for supporting small business but this is far to expensive to support. Save yourself a trip, go to Yatla pies, Brookies cookies and Christian Jacques, youāll get a better experience, better price and they wonāt charge you...
