Cineplex Hawthorne — Local services in Brisbane City

this was horrible. “deluxe cinema” for $15. Should’ve known that it was too good to be true. While waiting for the movie to start and it started halfway through during a major plot point of the movie on OPENING day of a marvel movie??

Staff were acting like they had a gun to their head and had the worst attitude, no apology when parts of the movie were spoiled, we all had to leave and gather at the entrance while they worked out how to stop the movie for about 5 minutes. Food was horrible and took an hour and a half. Went to the bathroom during the movie and saw about 8 meals sitting on the pass waiting to be taken out, i walked over and asked if our food was ready as we’ve been waiting for over an hour and he said two of the items were ready so I took them to our seats and they were cold and stale tasting.

Our friends ordered nachos that had a napkin in the middle of it??? We went to complain at the end and all the staff were gone so we couldn’t even get a refund for the food that had a literal napkin in it.

Also for a recliner cinema the seats don’t recline…. like none of them do because the seats are too close together so they’ve stopped them...

Do not ordinarily leave reviews, but after a couple of bad experiences, felt obliged to share my experiences. This cinema is gold glass only as far as food and alcohol are available to consume whilst watching your movie. Nothing else about this experience is gold class, highly suspicious of the 5 start reviews I have seen listed. There is nothing gourmet about the “gourmet pizza” it’s comes out of a freezer, it’s soggy, it’s bland. It’s no better than a freezer pizza heated in the oven at home. There is nothing Angus about the burger, it’s a freezer pattie, it’s bland, it’s poorly cooked, it was terrible. The chips are ok. The cinema itself… I mean it’s nicer than the one over the road sure… but with 60+ guests, and a couple of kids trying to serve everyone. It just doesn’t work. Other cinemas with gold class have fewer guests so they can adequately provide a gold class experience, this cinema does not achieve that in any way shape or form. Lastly, I almost forgot, the popcorn I was served, pre-packed for convenience, was stale. Literally the one thing you would expect to be fresh in any cinema experience let along gold class, and even that...

I love coming to Hawthorne Deluxe! The price is chef’s kiss and the air conditioning is arctic supreme (bring a jacket), and the seats / spacing is great for the price; however the counter service leaves something to be desired for a deluxe service. Every time I buy something there or have to get my tix the wait is too long, and they usually don’t have the full selection of food. They need more people and better training. At least once they’ve had to run across the road to raid the shop across the road… so you want to leave time before going to the movie. And they don’t seem to know what prioritizing is. There were three staff meandering around with two people waiting. One person was serving and it took almost 10min to get to the next person, me. The other two staff were frittering around when all I wanted was a choc top. Customer service training is needed here. But the cinema space is really great! Apparently Brisbane’s only lazer...
