I love going in to Rode Meats! Everyone is so happy and there is so much to choose from. We started going there when we were on the Elimination Diet and needed lots of good food and failsafe sausages! I especially love how they reward their staff when they achieve awards - that is brilliant.
Last Friday I called the store and asked if they would like to help with my Lunch for Language fund raiser I was having the next day. This is an annual event to raise awareness and funds for Chi.L.D. Association which runs the school my son goes to - The Glenleighden School. This is the only school in the southern hemisphere that caters for children from P-12 with severe to profound Language Disorder.
Whilst I have been on the Lunch for Language Committee for years this was the first in the new format - where parents, friends, unis, therapy clinics, workplaces etc host a lunch and raise awareness further and spread the love of fundraising. I decided to host of course and have it at home. I was a bit nervous and disorganised.
Thanks to Rode Meats for donating a $50 gift voucher for the event and giving me a discount on chicken thighs we were making in to very fresh tasty bread rolls for lunch, I could raise a whopping $434.95 on the day. My good friend Kerrie Streek won the voucher and was most impressed as she has been waiting to try Rode Meats. Now she will and there are six of them. See how being a super kind local business helps everyone. Thank you so much Brad and your wonderful team for helping raise funds and awareness for Language Disorder - a condition that affects 1 in 14 children.
I’ll be in after coffee this morning. Karen...
Read moreI've wrestled with this review (and appropriate star rating) for several weeks. Rather than go into huge detail, I decided to break it down into pros and cons.
Pros: • A professional, well presented layout • A large range of assorted meats, poultry, sausages, pies and ready-to-go meals • Friendly, accommodating staff
Cons: • More expensive than other butchers/grocery chains • Product quality doesn't reflect the price - we bought five different products to try and were underwhelmed by all. A couple of examples being Scotch Eggs (heavily artificially flavoured/salted), chicken, strawberry & white chocolate sausages (tasted pretty much like chicken sausages, my kids still don't believe me about the flavours), salted caramel & ginger chicken (basic marinated skin-on thighs without any real flavour definition)
It is the final point, that of the actual products, that dictated my final score.
** I will add that I'm not a big red meat buyer so cannot comment there. Other reviews suggest this is one of Rode Meats'...
