Rode Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I have lived in the area for over 30 years & used to be a regular here. Unfortunately when the business changed hands a few years ago the quality of the food declined. After a while I stopped going there. Today I noticed they had some good reviews recently and wondered if they had improved since 2 years ago when I last went. The short answer is no, they are even worse based on the pad Thai & fishcakes I got today. The fishcakes were standard mass produced ones, with a diluted sweet chilli sauce. The pad Thai had minimal sauce, which made it dry & bland. The vegetable content of the pad Thai was some carrot shreds & a few small fragments of cabbage. I think there was some egg, but not much. I know a lot of restaurants have cut costs since COVID, but there are much better options...

I'm giving 5☆ despite a few recipe errors, due to how smashed they got with orders today; a mistake here and there is forgivable. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good to leave a pleasant taste in your mouth. 2 errors: the wok was too hot when the special fried rice went in (a few toasty grains here and there but not many) which left the rice tasting as it should, but smelling burnt - and the garlic prawn and vegetables had no perceptile garlic in them, but plenty of big prawns. The steamed dim sims were on point as one would expect - hot, fresh and tasty, and OMG thank you SO much for an OUTSTANDING spicy pork belly dish with lots of meat, heat and fresh veggies. Would definitely recommend this place on a night when things aren't insanely...

This was once our fave and go to in Asian takeaway. We hadn't had it in a year and grabbed some yesterday.

We had 1 normal fried rice and 1 special fried rice. Both were sad and tasted like stale week old rice. The special fried rice had 1 large prawn on top, 2 chunks of omelette, some scrags of ham. The normal fried rice was less than 10 bits of ham and onion, nothing more, they were both tasteless and definitely not worth it.

The beef in black bean, my wife asked what the dish was as it was light, clear and fishy with no taste of black bean. The other dishes were no better.

The sweet and sour, it's just deep fried balls of meat with a tub of sauce (no veg).
