⭐ Horrible customer service from the short man with a big attitude
I’ve been coming to this place for a couple of years now and have always enjoyed the staff and the food. The food is truly outstanding, and I’ve been a loyal customer for a long time. But after today’s experience, I doubt I’ll ever return—and I’ll make sure to let others know about my experience.
I went in to order my usual four potato scallops with chicken salt and asked if I could have one of their burger buns with butter so I could put the scallops on it—which is absolutely delicious. Instead of handling my request politely or professionally, the short man serving me decided to be rude, condescending, and downright disrespectful.
Rather than kindly explaining that they get their burger buns from the bakery next door and can’t resell them, he lectured me like a child. It made no sense to me—once they’ve purchased the buns, it’s their property to sell as they please. His attitude and approach were not only unnecessary but completely unprofessional.
As someone who is an avid supporter of the hospitality industry and makes a strong effort to support local small businesses over big conglomerates, this really annoyed me. I make a conscious choice to spend my money at places like this, and for a loyal customer to be treated this way is beyond unacceptable. This review is absolutely warranted.
Based on this experience, I can already expect an absolutely terrible response to this review—if I get one at all—instead of a professional comeback and a genuine “we’ll make it right.” It will be interesting to see how this is handled and where he takes it, but my expectations are low after today.
Customer service is about treating people with kindness and respect, not handing out lectures or looking down on your customers. A better approach would have been a polite explanation, maybe even with a smile. Instead, I got an unwarranted attitude and a disrespectful demeanor.
This man needs to seriously consider working on his customer service skills. A little kindness and positivity go a long way in this industry. Unfortunately, after today’s experience, I can’t recommend this place anymore. I’ll make sure to let others know to avoid it as well. If this is how they treat loyal customers, they clearly don’t value the people who...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill over the last couple of years! Let us start with the chickens marketed as "award winning" well they are now half the size and double the price. Stanley’s used to be a great family meal option to support a local business for a rotisserie chicken but not anymore, the woollies chickens are bigger, cheaper and have more flavour. Last week I ordered a fish burger chips and a drink for $18, I do not usually write comments or reviews but this food if you can call it that was the number 1 most disappointing attempt of a meal, I have ever had in my 43 years. I’m not blaming the lads in the shop although thy did receive the brunt of my frustration when I returned with the full untouched meal that was not fit for a dog. I blame the owner for supplying bin food in the pantry. The fish was 5mm thick and burnt, the burger had half a slice of translucent tomato, a brown wilted piece of lettuce, a sugar cube size slice of beetroot?... and sauce that was sold as tartare but looked like mayo. My burger bun itself was flat and stale, which looked like it had been fist smashed before serving. The smell from this thing was nothing short of offensive, I did not even take a bite. The chips burnt, hollow and inedible. When I returned to the shop the boys to their credit apologised and offered a full refund or a remake, which I declined both. I am not looking for anything, simply writing this to hopefully give the owners a clear message that significant improvements are required.
If I could rate zero, I...
Read moreDecided to try this place as it was rated so high, but it completely missed the mark for me.
I had the hot seafood platter for two and honestly this has been the most disappointing dinner. The chips tasted half-done & still hard inside. The seafood bites were double-battered and tasted like flour. The seafood sticks & calamari rings - they were the worst of the lot. I had one bite and that was enough. The only thing that was edible was the fish bites, but even they were questionable as I was not fond of it's odd semi-jelly like texture. I don't even have anything good to say about the darn tub of tartare sauce that came with the meal as that was a fail too. The only win for me in the whole meal was the two pieces of lemon wedge.
The things I did appreciate about the place - it was open on a public holiday, they answered the phone quickly, service is fast & friendly and there is ample parking.
While I won't be coming back for fish & chips ever again, I might give the chicken a go one day. I believe the high ratings must be about...
