OptusāÆStadium TourāÆ&āÆCity View Lunch
I recently joined the Optus Stadium Tour & City View Lunch and left feeling both impressed and wellāfed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that combined insider access to one of Perthās icons with a quality meal overlooking the Swan River. Below are a few highlights and constructive suggestions for future tours.
What I loved
Knowledgeable guide Our guideās passion for the venue and WA sport shone through every stop. Their anecdotes about stadium design, ābehindātheāscenesā player areas, and local sporting history made the walk genuinely engaging.
Wellāpaced exploration We covered player change rooms, media gantries, the coachesā box, and premium hospitality suites. Each location had something fresh to discover, so there was never a dull moment.
City View Lunch The postātour meal was excellent: fresh produce, generous portions, and a sweeping view across the river to Perthās skylineāa perfect way to wrap up the outing.
What could be even better
Vacuum noise during the tour I appreciate the need for regular cleaning, but multiple areas had industrial vacuums running while we were trying to hear the guide. A brief pause in cleaning (or scheduling it away from tour windows) would hugely improve the experience.
Tour length Ninety minutes felt slightly long, especially for visitors with tight itineraries or mobility limitations. A streamlined 60āminute version would still cover the essentials and keep energy levels high.
Introductory A/V segment Starting the tour in one of the stadiumās A/V rooms with a short videoācovering Optus Stadiumās construction story, Indigenous design elements, and what weāll seeāwould set the stage and build anticipation. It would also make good use of the impressive media facilities you already have.
Summary
Despite the minor distractions, this tour delivers excellent value: deep insight into Australiaās most beautiful stadium, backed by a friendly expert guide and a topānotch lunch. With a little fineātuning around cleaning schedules, runātime, and a brief intro video, it would be practically flawless.
Thank you for a memorable day, and I look forward to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDefinitely do the Vertigo tour. I was back home to visit my folks and had driven out to have a look at this Optus stadium that everyone keeps raving about. It turns out that you canāt go and explore the place without being on a proper tour so I went home. Two days later both my parents were driving me to insanity at home so I started googling for high places to jump off ofā¦(haha jk) no- I decided I needed some time to myself but given I had a couple of recent injuries I didnāt want to do anything too extreme. I booked the vertigo tour for a beautiful Perth day and WOW. The first part of the tour was interesting and well paced giving plenty of info about the stadium and some nice views and perspectives without being too slow. Once I got handed over to Mark it was like id come to catch up with an old mate for a bit. Heās a lovely fella. Heās customer focussed and personable but mostly heās someone youād send your kids to go and do activities at height with without a second thought. The feeling of exposure and grandiosity at the D shaped platform should be enough to excite even the coolest customers and for people who like to have millions of photos of everything donāt worry, although you wont be able to use your own phone you will get plenty of pics. If youāve got that glorious Perth weather and a spare couple of hours in Perth, this tour is excellent. (And Iām not even a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been skydiving and enjoyed other 'extreme activities' but this is absolutely BRILLIANT! The entire team go out of their way to make it an incredible experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a beautiful smile by Maia on Reception. Bella guided us through the experience and was super knowledgeable. We were shown the instructional video, then assisted with harness setup and super interesting information on the stadium and surroundings. She allowed us time to enjoy the views of the river, bridge and city and took lots of fun, happy snaps for us as well. Matt and Kat then took us out onto the platform. They made us feel so safe and reassured with their thorough guidance, instructions and careful setting up of the harnesses. Everyone was an absolute expert, no stone left unturned. They made it so much fun and we all challenged ourselves and pushed beyond our comfort zones, which was really exhilarating. Thank you to Bella, Kat, Matt and the team for such an epic experience. We came to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday and it was just...
