Sunvale Meats — Local services in Currajong

Came in on Sunday to grab some rump steak because the last time we bought it, it was really good. Unfortunately, this time was a completely different story. When I got it out of the bag to throw it on the BBQ, I couldn’t believe how poorly it had been cut - it looked like it had been done with a butter knife. The thickness was all over the place, and the centre was so thick it was more like a roast than a steak and butchered to death by a butter knife. I cooked it medium, but it was incredibly tough and chewy. Honestly, it turned me off so much that I ended up throwing it in the bin - $60...

In store customer service was great & the shop immaculate. We bought pork & apple cider sausages amongst other things. The sausages tasted like a dirty plastic bag & were completely inedible. When I rang the shop, I was told "so sorry about that; must've been the end of an old batch". I want to support local business, but it's hard when you feel like there is no remedy given for a bad product. We still have Boerwor sausages to try & are hopeful they redeem this...

This is hands down the best butcher shop in Townsville, if not NQ. The shop is immaculate, the service is great and the produce is fresh, well prepared and delicious. I'd love to see the pork and venison sausages make a comeback at some stage! Red hot tips - hand cut Italian sausages, filet mignon, John Dee rib eye, rasher bacon (unlike any bacon you've tried) and the packaged dry-wors. Five tasty stars...
