If customer courtesy, the attitudes of male staff towards women, and the variety and range of merchandise are essential in rating a supermarket, this IGA would come nowhere near Supermarket of the Year. The worst aspect of shopping here is navigating the aisles, particularly when the mature male staff are stocking the shelves - they'll only help you find an item very grudgingly, and make access to the aisles and shelves difficult, even when asked (very politely) if they can move their trolleys. There's a tendency amongst the male staff to laugh at women customers, commenting on their weight, appearance etc, so it's pretty primitive. Very disappointing for a regular family who has lived in Balwyn last 25 years and has always support the...
Read moreBack we come once again to cheese nirvana, the amazing selection of Italian artisan pastas, cartons of the best sourced tomatoes and sauces, and a deli you can spend all day at. The locals here know how good they've got it, but those of us from further away love the chance to take it all in once in a while. After a year last year where for so long, we couldn't go far from home, Boccaccio SUPA IGA cheese section is perhaps one of Melbourne's institutions I missed the most....
