Boccaccio SUPA IGA — Local services in Melbourne

If customer courtesy, the attitudes of male staff towards women, and the variety and range of merchandise are essential in rating a supermarket, this IGA would come nowhere near Supermarket of the Year. The worst aspect of shopping here is navigating the aisles, particularly when the mature male staff are stocking the shelves - they'll only help you find an item very grudgingly, and make access to the aisles and shelves difficult, even when asked (very politely) if they can move their trolleys. There's a tendency amongst the male staff to laugh at women customers, commenting on their weight, appearance etc, so it's pretty primitive. On the positive side, the store has well-stocked cheese, deli and Italian grocery items, and its red meat is of a high quality. The flip-side is that it lacks a wide choice of basic everyday items. There are independent supermarkets in Melbourne where you're consistently guaranteed courtesy and respect as a customer, and a wide choice of local and imported products, including special goods, but this is not...

Recently, we have no idea why the loaders at this store are working brutally during opening hours and are so rude to customers ?

Not long ago, when I started checking the salt content on a bag of chips, a short, gray-haired old man who went to loaded the goods and scolded me, "Are you going to check them all?"

The locals here know how good they've got it, but those of us from further away love the chance to take it all in once in a while.
