So I went this afternoon to eat my brunch in this place, I ordered pan in one which basically as you can tell from the dish picture. It tasted very good actually, the portions was just at point. And then a coffee with I think a brownie cheesecake, the dessert tasted amazing actually
However giving the 4 stars just because apparently there was a misunderstanding, as I asked the guy who took the food order from me, if I am able to replace the bacon with the avocado since I don’t eat bacon, and he was like yeah absolutely I can do that.
But then when I was about to pay for my bill I realised that they added $5 extra for the avocado. Which I was not satisfied with and told the guy at the counter that I asked the guy to replace the bacon with avocado I did not ask for an extra avocado!!
And he was like ahh no we don’t do this unfortunately but I’ll just pass it this time.
For me this was quite weird since he said I’ll just pass it this time, I mean your guy agreed at the beginning so there is no need to say I’ll pass it this time.
Also there actually should be flexibility with the order. I am a Muslim and in our religion we don’t eat bacon so what would be hard to replace one ingredient. I don’t think I asked something hard!
I’ve been to so many cafes and they were all happy to do that, Well some no but the majority were happy to do so
Anyway, the food was good everything was great except what I said. And hopefully when I come next time I won’t be experiencing...
Read moreDearest gentle readers,
When chores took this author to Kew, a need for coffee and some snack brought one to this quaint Cafe.
The Cafe is full of character, and some unique pieces, like a really big mirror on a side wall and seating that looks like a church bench, may be it is one, enhances the beauty of this place.
Whilst the intention was to order an oat milk flat white and a cheese tomato sandwich to go, I decided to actually take some time and actually snack in. A corner seat with a marble top table was a perfect spot. News papers at the bar bench stuck to the glass window reminded me of simpler times, I hope this continues.
Coffee was delicious and well made! It's the toastie that took away the stars. The bread was not buttered, and at multiple occasions while nibbling through the cheese and tomato between the toasted white sourdough i could distinctly smell meat, while not averse to it, I would have liked not getting that smell as this was supposed to be a meatless toastie. It's a small thing but that's the level of nitty gritty we go down to when it's nearly perfect but not quite there.
I did not raise this with the staff, though I feel they would have taken the feedback constructively as they were all very sweet and friendly.
Hopefully our paths cross again and if it does, I'll be sure to stop by for another cheese tomato toastie only to be proven wrong and call it the best toastie I have ever had.
Until...
Read moreIn busy times you need start taking names with orders. Leaving it to 8 awaiting customers to work out who's 'Large Latte' is; just doesn't work. Also shouting "Large Latte" multiple times and becoming frustrated with your customers is also not a great look.
There is one particular staff member (male) that is fairly obnoxious most often than not. He has his days of being super nice and then just super arrogant. He is such a contrast to all the front of house at this cafe. They are usually all overly welcoming and all too eager to help. Reading through the more critical comments I could almost guarantee they are referring to him. His general demeanor exudes an arrogance that is very unflattering. He ignores customers, he is short with customers and just generally rude. As an subjective observer, I think he prefers to exude his effort on fraternising with the wait staff than on his job.
The coffee is great, the food is amazing, the environment is cosy. The front of house staff are eager to please. This has potential to be the ultimate standout cafe...
