This is a next level WOW Thai restaurant. While average Thai restaurant are a dime a dozen here in Melbourne, this place offers Thai food with finesse. The soft balancing of sweet, sour and salty are on point. It is not an uncontrolled exercise of just piling on the flavours that overpowers the natural flavours of the fresh ingredients. Every dish we ordered was very good. Special mention is needed for the started calamari salad. The calamari was so perfectly charred to give that smoky edge but yet retains its tenderness - a masterpiece! The only let down of the night was the banana, glutinous rice dessert. The filling was a little too funky for my liking. It is a small cosy restaurant, so make you book in advance.

Visited Saychol Thai for a dinner last Sunday and absolutely fell in love with this place. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a very polite and kind staff who explained the vegan options to me and also gave me a suggestion so I followed her and the food didn't disappoint! I had Fried Tofu, vegan Tom Kha Soup and vegan Pad See Ew which I am still dreaming of đŸ€ They clearly put thier love in the food I can tell. The restaurant is very clean, hygienic and well decorated. Highly recommend!

Saychol Thai Restaurant is my go-to Thai spot in the Kew East area! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Johnny, the owner, is incredibly warm and welcoming—no matter how busy it gets, he always greets you with a smile. Highly recommended!

Food was not great. Came here many moons ago
at least six years back, and this place was so much better

The „pan-seared“ scallop were deep fried and the sauce was literally pure sugar. Despite not being cooked as explained, they did not remove the item from the bill The curry puff are also deep fried. Is every entree deep fried? Who knows.

The Massaman curry was nice for about three spoonfuls and thereafter all you can taste is sugar and the absurdly high MSG content.

The yellow tickling curry was the redeeming dish.

The place is cosy

I can’t share the enthusiastic comments and reviews I saw here. I’ve been to many Thai restaurants in Melbourne but it never happened to me before to eat something so seasoned. Far too much salt (or whatever else they used as a substitute). I love spices but that’s not what this was about. Every single dish my wife and I took was almost impossible to finish. They were at least honest enough not to make us pay for a prawn salad but still we had to pay for the rest. Clearly they can’t cook. This is basics. I won’t go...
