Kew Kebab House — Restaurant in Melbourne

This area along Burke Road has smatterings of burger joints, and unfortunately this one does nothing to stand out. The burgers are pretty good, but the patties were a bit overcooked and the buns a bit dense. However the real let down were the chilli cheese fries. I was expecting something like what was to be found at Burgled Burgers only a couple of kilometres away, but I was sorely mistaken. Where Burgled chips are crispy, well seasoned and delicious, the Juicy Lucy chips were evidently pulled out of a packet. They were tasteless, mushy and disgusting. The cheese was highly processed and more like plastic. The chilli was just a few jalapeño slices. Not only that, but the chilli cheese fries came at the rediculous price of $9. Juicy Lucy gets a solid 4. Whilst I had just a burger and chips this time around I look forward to their pizzas - if they are anything like their burgers then we've got a lot to look forward to. The burger market is pretty crowded and this place seems to have nailed burgers without trying too hard. They are tasty home style burgers without the pomp of many other places. You know the places - they have gimmicks and have too much going on between the buns and you don't know what's going on. Not here! They have seemingly decided to go with knowing their burgers are good without having to dress them up any more than needed. Nice kebab's, nice (though unusual and no pork) very yummy cheesy pizzas. Open late which is nice. Only thing is the price is high. In the northern suburbs you can find very similar food for less dollars. My advice, reduce the price by a couple of dollars on most of the items.
