Booked a table for 4 on a Friday night at 7.30 pm. We arrived at 7.35 pm and ordered our food in the next 5 minutes. We were told that the kitchen was backed up as the restaurant was nearly full. We had to wait for 25 minutes which we were ok with. We had only ordered "Mains" and Breads for our meal. The Owner/Manager (She) came to the table and recommended that we should order Entrees as it was a long wait of 25 minutes. We deliberated amongst ourselves and stuck to our original order. 35 minutes later - no food - we inquired with the wait staff and we were told that our food will be out in a minute. 45 minutes later we inquired again with another wait staff and this time were told 5 minutes and they started organising cutlery on our table giving us the impression food was coming out. 55 minutes later - still no food - asked another waiter what was going on, just to get ignored. 60 minutes later we complained to the waiter that we have been waiting for an hour and wanted to know when our food was coming out. On hearing us complain the Owner/Manager (She) came up to us and told us that we always have problems with "You Indians" (All 4 of us were Indians) and that we are not patient enough. We explained that we were waiting for 60 minutes and that we were hungry and would like to be fed. Expecting to receive an apology we were told that if you want to leave you can leave. We were a bit shocked and upset at her words asking us to leave. The owner/manager all this while spoke in English. But at this juncture she started speaking in Hindi and told us that we Indians are always making trouble at her restaurant. We decided to leave as we felt that she was very rude to us and made us unwelcome as guests. We particularly felt upset to be called "You Indians" as if we were singled out. We did notice that other tables too had not been served and a lot of people were waiting for their food. Why take a booking to reserve a table and then not to be served with any food for more than an hour is simply ridiculous. This was my second visit as we had liked the food last time, though we were kept waiting for 30 minutes. This is a restaurant that should be avoided as they treat customers...
Read moreWe have been to Roti Boti for the first time and had a very bad experience. We went there to celebrate my dads birthday however it was a disaster. Coming to the food, not worth at all. Very small portions for the price they charge, food not tasty even though we have ordered the items which they suggested would be the best. Naans and rice weren't good at all. We arrived there at 7:30pm, no one came to take the order until 8:00pm. We ordered for the entrees and came in around 8:35pm, and the mains was ordered around 8:45pm and it came to our table around 9:15pm. We had to follow-up on our order several times. When asked they said it should usually takes sometime between entrees and mains. This is unacceptable as other Fine Dine restaurants dont take half an hour just to bring such a small portions. Every time we needed something we had to literally get up and call someone to the table. Customer Service is pathetic. We understand the restaurant was busy, but saying that customers shouldn't be ignored because every customer is valuable. Overall, it was a waste of time and money. Most Importantly, being an Indian customer in an Indian restaurant we felt outplace because all we could feel is focus/attention was given to Non Indians (not pointing at anyone in particular) but honestly this is what we felt. Addition to this, there was a delay in the billing counter as well, because certain items were not added to bill prior when the bill was given to us on the table. They made us wait for long attending other customers who were behind us (Non Indians).
Hope Mr. Hari works on these mentioned...
Read moreThere's barely a bad thing I can say about Roti Boti. It's consistently good food, the service is pretty much impeccable and I keep coming back often, because it's just great Indian food.
I don't tend to have the most adventurous palate out there, so when it comes to Indian food, I'm usually a Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan and rice kinda girl. But at Roti Boti, they do a STUNNING Mango Chicken, the likes of which I haven't tasted elsewhere. I'm not normally into savoury and sweet, but this works well. Their Butter Chicken is equally as good, and their Naan full of enough garlic to get you in trouble with your family, friends and coworkers for a good half week or so. If I get an entree too, I'll opt for their delicious Samosas and they're some of the best I've had anywhere.
99% of the time, the service is impeccable and spot on. The owner gets to know you even after one visit and could almost recite the order you placed your previous visit without error. He has the most amazing memory. It's a family run business and they pay attention to detail and always make you feel welcome. The only minimal downside is when they're doing persistent take away orders, and therefore your meal is delayed and delayed ... however ... if that's the only fault a restaurant has, it says a lot, and the food is worth the wait. It is quite dark inside, so be sure to have your battery on high for your phone if you use the torch app to read menus. But once you've ordered, be prepared for one of the best Indian meals around. Roti Boti is...
