St Rose café is definitely one of my fave cafes in Essendon area. Not only for the lovely venue but also for their amazing dishes. I really love the ambiance and its located just across the station, which is very convenient. I came to visit St Rose to try their Winter 2021 menu, here is some of the highlight of the brunch. First thing first, they serve a great coffee from Five senses coffee roaster.
We started as the most fave menu, THE CHILLI SCRAMBLED, It is definitely a must try! Never go wrong with super soft scrambled eggs with extra chorizo, broccoli, fresh chilli, pesto, grain toast. (I’d recommend adding some hashbrown too) Another one is the EGGS BENEDICT; It’s a sourdough with crispy bacon, spinach, poached eggs which taste so delish especially adding with the burnt butter hollandaise. I also tried the BOSTON BAKED BEANS This baked white beans was surprisingly amazing with extra bacon, braised tomato, fried egg, crispy shallots, chilli lime. It’s perfect for these cold day! This colourful dish is the SUSHI BOWL ; It’s a very juicy and fresh Tataki salmon with some avocado, brown rice, poached eggs, nori (seaweed), edamame, togarashi seasoning, kewpie mayo, pickled ginger, daikon. Isn’t it just a perfect kind of healthy bowl?
They have amazing Vegeterian and Vegan menu, such as: SAUTEED GREENS;This green salad contains with sauteed kale, green beans, persian feta, poached eggs, pumpkin puree, pesto, dukkah with extra grain toast. Who doesn’t love the fresh and delicious ACAI BOWL here? Its the blended acai, banana, peanut butter, almond milk, organic crumble, some seasonal fruits. This incredible BISCOFF LOTUS VEGAN THICKSHAKE contains with the famous Lotus biscoff, sugarfree vanilla coconut icecream, and soymilk.
Last but not least, the CEREAL OFFENDER PANCAKES! Love their milo pancakes with extra milo custard, cereal milk, milk crumb, ice cream, golden crunch! Absolutely a perfect balance of sweetness too. It’s a generous portion so it’s...
Read moreSt Rose is a bustling and lively cafe located along Rose St Essendon directly across the road from the railway station. Visiting for lunch we were seated inside.
We ordered the original beef burger and the superfood salad with added grilled chicken along with the “cereal offender” pancakes to share. For drinks we had a coffee and a cappuccino thickshake.
I highly enjoyed the superfood salad. Comprising of kale, quinoa, avocado, Granny Smith, halloumi, almonds, chia and hummus it was healthy, fresh and light yet filling. I loved the variety of smooth and crispy textures and the halloumi was so good. I opted to add grilled chicken which was delicious however the salad was perfectly fine without it.
I loved that the original beef burger came served with chips. I couldn’t get enough of the chips, they were nice and crunchy. My mum enjoyed the burger, the beef was nicely cooked.
The “cereal offender” pancakes featuring milo pancake with milo custard, cereal milk, milk crumb, ice cream and golden crunch was beautifully plated. The pancake was on the denser side so it was perfect for absorbing all the toppings. Although it looked and sounded quite sweet it surprisingly wasn’t too sweet which I liked. Overall it was filling and delicious, and I loved the cereal crunch.
It’s easy to we why St Rose is very popular with the locals. Although it was busy when we visited, the team were really friendly and accommodating, making for a great atmosphere. Overall I had a wonderful experience at St Rose, great food, great coffee and great service. I rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5, thanks very much...
Read moreI visited St Rose for a quick lunch before lockdown and it really is such a gem. Located in the most convenient location right opposite from the train station, I was greeted right away with a smile. The ambience is modern with a relaxed feel and the greenery/plants make it a pleasant cafe to dine in.
Although I went in for a late lunch, St Rose does seem to be a popular spot for the locals as there was still a lot of people coming in. I was served straight away and decided to order the Mango Passion Smoothie, Brekkie Burger (added haloumi) & Superfood Salad (added chicken).
The Mango Passion Smoothie was just so fruity and refreshing! Perfect in the hot weather. I'd happily have this every day in Summer! The Brekkie Burger was delicious also, photo's don't do it justice as to how hearty and loaded the burger is. It was filled with bacon, a perfectly fried egg, cheddar, spinach, a super tasty (and sweet) chilli jam and hashbrown. This was one of my favourite breakfast burgers that I've ever had! I'd definitely recommend adding haloumi also, it compliments the burger so well (fries would have been too much).
I got the salad also to takeaway which was delicious. I loved the addition of the Granny Smith and couldn't get enough of the haloumi. It was a big portion size and definitely value for money.
I did see the Maple Ricotta Hotcake on the menu which sounds divine - I know what I'll be getting on...
