If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This is by far the BEST cafe out here. It craps on every other cafe that has ever existed. Finding a place to eat on a GF diet can be so tiring and quite underwhelming as almost every place that does have a GF option available tend to use stale woolies/coles brand gf bread and tend to charge an extra $5. This place, on the other hand, KNOWS the struggles that we must deal with. Because they deliver. We want a karaage chicken? we're getting it, we want hotcakes? we're getting hotcakes! I am so shocked at how good the food tasted, I thought it was too good to be true, especially after my non GF boyfriend said that we must come back here. It is a true blessing that this place exists, I love that I know I can come here and actually enjoy food and not worry about having to pay a fortune either. I love that I can order a meal, and know I'm getting good quality GF sourdough bread, etc. Thank you!
We ordered a hotchocolate, matcha latte, and the karaage chicken sanga and the cremebrulee hotcakes...
Read moreWhat a treat to have a fully gluten free cafe in Essendon. A total heaven for a coeliac and there is no sense of compromise for those that aren't.
Brunch was awesome. A comment from non-GF friends was "I forgot it was a fully GF place" that is so good to hear.
The karaage was super crispy, the slaw with it was spicy mayo and I loved the mild gouda cheese. The bread is GF sourdough by the lovely team at Eat Cannoli. The sourdough is also available for purchase to take home.
Truffled mushrooms were delicious and the poached eggs were perfectly runny inside.
Coffee was great, no faults there. I loved my flat white and everyone was happy with their brew.
The only thing that isn't gluten free in the store is the oat milk (oats are not considered GF in Aus). As such they are very aware of this and use a separate steam wand for oat milk to prevent cross contamination when...
Read moreFood was nice enough, staff friendly but a little disorganised. What has let this cafe down is their front door! As a customer sitting very close to the door I had to constantly get up to close the door as there was such a strong breeze coming through. Customers weren’t closing the door and I think it’s far to assume that they thought it was self closing, however, the staff did it multiple times as well. I was quite irritated after I closed the door close to 15 times whilst trying to enjoy a meal with my daughter. At the end of our stay I mentioned the door to the staff member who agreed the door wasn’t good and needed to be fixed but the owner had not done anything about it! I had spoken to others in the cafe who said this was a constant frustration for them when attending this cafe. It’s a shame because all the food looked nice and the staff were...
