I had booked to see the Lion King on the 30th Anniversary- playing only 3 days accross Melbourne. We live in Ballarat, so made a day of it for our autistic friend. After driving many hours, and getting there early, and buying very expensive food and drinks, we made our way to the cinema listed on our tickets. It was being cleaned. So we waited. Eventually, about 10 minutes after the session time, they checked our tickets and let us in. We sat and waited and waited and finally the advertisements came on. After 20 more minutes, the movie began but we were not sure if it was another preview or not. Once the actors started snorting hard drugs and swearing we knew something was wrong. We left the cinema and waited as one of us enquired what was up. They told us they had changed the cinema. By this stage the movie had been playing for about 40 minutes in another room. Our tickets were emailed and told us Cinema 1. No email update was sent to inform us of the change, and the staff did not bother checking the movie on our tickets to spot the mistake. So they advised us they would refund the movie ticket. Well sure, that was inevitable. I was outraged, being autistic myself and having spent weeks and made a whole day for this event. To top it off, there was no alternative time at any cinema to see it now… having bought a number of large popcorns and drinks, we had all sipped on trying to save it for the movie, I demanded a refund of those items too. There was no way i was spending almost 50 dollars on some popcorn and soda, without getting to see the movie. But they refused, causing me to become very triggered. Thankfully the idiots who were there we’re smart enough to refund me anyway… you don’t realise it, but it was mere seconds away from full meltdown mode, and those overpriced plastic packaged lollies and other crap on the counter was about to be strewn around like a hurricane had crossed paths. My friends knew the threat. So they tried to calm me down by sitting me in a quiet place away from others. I wanted to leave immediately but I couldn’t at that time. So we waited. Not once did anyone give an actual shit about the experience and consequences. You are lucky I didn’t hit you up for the drive down and back, parking and the cost of buying the blu ray. Anyway - I’m giving two stars because you at least refunded us, in the end, and tried to give credit tickets on top. Thanks, but as I told you then, I’m not going back there. The situation was screwed no matter what, but you could have shown sympathy… I assume you have since implemented corrective measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again? I feel sorry for the other guy too who went on his own to see this movie and was in the same boat. It must have meant a lot. But at least your designated vinyl record picker and wannabe DJ remained constantly busy every...
Read moreTook my son to the BYO Baby session on Wednesday. The movie was showing in cinema 7. Advertising was really loud, I'm a bit deaf from years of music and it was loud for me. There were no lights on in the cinema also. Went back to the box offive and asked for the volume to be turned down and the guy said he would do it straight away. Went back up to the cinema, volume was softer but still too loud for a 5 month old to sit through for 2 hours. The other major issue is the space in cinema 7, I'm not sure if they always have the BYO Baby session in cinema 7, the room is very steep and there is one accessible spot in the theatre. Only one pram can fit in the cinema. The mums left their prams outside and took the capsule/bassinet into the cinema, I did the same. The size of the seats and the amount of legroom mean there is no comfortable way to leave your baby in the capsule. You'd either have to sit at the end of the row and put the capsule on the stairs or hold.your baby for the whole session. I decides to leave 2 minutes into the movie because I knew it was not going to be a comfortable experience for me and my son. Went back to the box office to get the volume turned down for the sake of the other babies and to also ask for a refund. Spoke to the manager who didn't seem very understanding but at least I got a refund. I think the cinema would be great otherwise. Will definitely go back for one of the rooftop sessions in summer without the baby, but I don't think this cinema is any good for the baby sessions. I'll stick to some of the bigger chain cinemas for the...
Read moreGorgeous cinema incredible lovely staff wonderful food and drink options and comfy seats I love the selections you guys showcase I appreciate that you guys have vegan options As often it is frowned upon palace cinemas and Village Cinemas Have close to 0 Vegan options apart form popcorn and chips I like that you guys are doing something a bit different and are inventive with your food options also the vegan choc tops are Award winning You guys are like the cinema Nova of the eastern suburbs , however I have to take one star away which I feel Bad about due to the fact when I was at your theatre a few weeks ago there was bad air radiation coming through the cinema due to the bushfires And I also watched cats and they were 2 Young male teenagers high on marijuana seated at the back of the theatre carrying on like they where at a night club I understand these two factors are beyond your control But it was an ordeal And uncomfortable especially the smoke from the extreme heat blowing into your cinemas while watching cats a...
