Update: manager reached out in response to my review in an engaging, friendly tone, upgrade to 4 stars as this is important in business. Hopefully pay rises will outrun the projected inflation rate of "seven percent". Yo-Chi self-serve frozen yoghurt seems pretty good on the surface, and most of them are not too sweet, I usually combine vanilla with chocolate but you can be far more creative! You can pick and choose your own toppings too. They have a wide array of these, so there is scope for more creativity! I like raspberry coulis, with chocolate dirt added as a final touch. I barely fill the cup - it still costs almost $8! So $16 for two people, with a modest quantity each. I can't see that they offer different cup sizes, either. As they charge by weight, this seems a bit of a swizz, as all their cups are large. So even if you deliberately not even half fill it, I feel they charge too much for the weight. If you filled it to the brim and put a reasonable amount of toppings on, I reckon it'd easily cost $14 per serve, so that's $28, just for two desserts. Smaller cups should be offered, to allow for children's servings. I went here a couple of times several weeks apart, so I gather if they offered different cup sizes, they would have had them on at least one occasion if they ran out of them the other time. I took 3 stars off due to no choice of cup size, as well as the unfortunate prices charged here. The good things about Yo-Chi are the atmosphere their opening hours, the choices available and the staff at the counter are polite...
Read moreAiyah, this Yoshi place… quite the modern marvel, wouldn't you say? Back in my day, we had sweet bean curd and perhaps a bit of shaved ice if the summer was particularly brutal. But this… frozen yoghurt, they call it. It’s… cold. Very cold. Like dipping your tongue into the icy river during the winter festival! But… not unpleasant. I tried the one with the… what are these little red berries? Cranberries? They are tart, like the plums my wife used to pickle, but sweeter. And the texture… smooth, like silk. Not at all like the gritty ice we used to get. They have so many toppings too! Little mochi balls, like the ones we make for the Moon Festival, but… chewier. And these… chocolate shavings? Dark and rich, like the finest tea. The young lady behind the counter, such a bright and cheerful girl, she explained it all to me with great patience. Even when I pointed at the wrong topping and mumbled in my old dialect, she smiled and helped me. Such good service! Reminds me of the tea house back in the village. It’s a strange treat, this frozen yoghurt. Not something I’m used to. But… I think I like it. It’s… refreshing. And the sweetness… it warms me in a different way than hot tea. Perhaps I’ll bring my grandson here next time. He’ll probably like it even more than this old man. Aiyah, progress… it's a strange thing, but sometimes, it can be quite delicious. Maybe I’ll even try the one with the… mango next time. If I can remember what it is! Four out of five stars. Would be five if it was a little...
Read moreA bit more professionalism should be implemented within the staffing side of things, I was here Sunday night (19th Jan) when some girl who was in casual clothes (yo chi worker) brought her friend up to the register that was closed at the time (due to it being late) to then put through her employee discount for the friend. This worker came up abruptly beside me, staring at me and my yoghurt as I was paying & putting my wallet away etc, hinting her frustration that I was in HER way because I was taking up space at a C L O S E D register. She then picked up my yoghurt and moved it away from the scales so she could put her mates yoghurt through and weigh it 🤣🤣🤣 Firstly learn to not enter employee areas while not in uniform if the store is operating? Not a good look sis & secondly do not stare at me, or touch & move my yoghurt around when I don’t know you??
But can I add the man working on Wednesday night, I think he wore glasses and had a short beard, a tad older than the other works was extremely nice and so friendly!! He had amazing customer service :3
Also yo chi needs more variety of flavoured boba!! They only ever have one fruit flavour, unlike yomg who...
