The fantasy of any caker, you will be sure you conceptualised this place in your sprinkle and buttercream-filled dreams. Prices are fair and often great specials, overstocks or clearances lead to purchases that will beat the cheapest $2 shop by a few dollars and even the fussiest person wouldn't find fault with the range (estimate the amount of products you think they will have, then triple it), browsing could see you losing yourself for hours just to cover it all. Location is relatively convenient too, and is private enough so closeted cake makers and overshoppers alike can keep their secrets safe. The one knocking point is the staff attitude. They are polite and respectful enough through the serving process, but the welcome and acknowledgement is slightly lacking which, depending on the day, can make you feel slightly uncomfortable or as though your presence in the store is intrusive. Then again, everyone is entitled to a few off days, and my experience may not be shared by others. However, it is something to note. The other aspect worth comment is the insane range of cake tins available for hire. Unfortunately, for a coeliac like me, this is not an option, but would strongly recommend for the novices tasked with cake making and wanting to change things up without a hefty purchase tag, and will allow box cake mums to change it up and become the talk of the latest birthday party. All in all, the store is an aptly named fever-dream that could excite the most seasoned and die-hard cake makers, sprinkled with a variety of draw cards for the novice too. These guys are a life saver! I had a rush cake to make which required an edible image asap and these guys always deliver! I've been coming up here for over a year now and I truly didn't appreciate how totally amazing the girls up here truly are till yesterday. Mel has always been so helpful and friendly and always offers amazing advice when I need it. she really knows her stuff when it comes to cake making and if you ever come up here make sure you stop and chat with her. She has some great tips and tricks she loves to share with you that she's picked up overt the years. Yesterday, as always she went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed for this cake nightmare which without her would have been a cake disaster. Tonight however, for the first time I came in with my 2yo son and I was so humiliated by his behaviour. I wanted to cry. I am 8 months pregnant and struggling. He was running a much andni couldn't control him. It was embarrassing while I was trying to shop for cake supplies. But the woman on tonight (Friday 7th may) was my absolute saviour. She went above and beyond helpful to help me. She could see I was stressed and struggling with him while trying to shop. Her assistance was just beyond any customer service inhave ever seen. Truly a kind soul with such a understanding and helpful nature.
