ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

Without a doubt...the worst I've had in living memory. Sorry...but despite all the positive reviews...they must have decided to make me the 'chump' for the month. Battered Savs were extremely overcooked, dry and very hard. Has they been cooked any longer, they would've been charcoal. South Melbourne Dim Sim (fried)...same as the sav. It looked and felt like a rock. When I cut it open with a serrated knife to poor soy over the meat...it was that overcooked and dry..the sauce just deflected off it rather than being absorbed. Finally the potato cakes...terrible. Tasted like it had been sitting in a Bain Marie for 3 days...and again, overcooked and rock hard. It really resembled cardboard...so 1 was enough, the rest in the bin. I've seen comments about the freshness of the oil...but the oil they're using is one I couldn't identify (yes I do have a background in restaurants). It really gave the 'food' an awful taste...as if it could get any worse. For my first time here, they've ensured it...

Being a Local IV watched that shop change over owners a few times. The last owners were outstandingly good.One of Melbourne's best.Fish was sourced from Port Melbourne I believe, always good and fresh BUT LAST NIGHT sadly I'd decided to spoil myself ,since the cost of living is so high I rarely treat myself lately but to my disgust new ownership has not only downgraded their stock to a quality that was so low that I'm not sure how they can advertise flake but provide Rubbery cheap frozen fish hidden in an overcooked batter.. I fed the food to the cat. Couldn't eat it at all. Oil most likely hasn't been changed in God knows how long. 😥. Don't bother . Total FALL FROM...

If you're after delicious fish and crunchy chips - look no further! I have been searching for years to find a place in Melbourne that serves actual fresh, not frozen fish and these guys delivered. The portions are generous and unbelievable value for money, especially when you consider that they are serving fresh, high quality seafood. Their customer service is also excellent and they handled a large order for us with ease, and on time - on Good Friday no less! Its pretty rare to find a business with this old school style of customer service that also delivers on the food front, so if you live in the Preston area, I HIGHLY recommend you try this...
