We booked for a party of 14 and started with an entree order of 5 baskets of garlic bread at $8 each. When it arrived each basket had three 100mm pieces of cold 'untoasted" garlic bread with melted cheese on top. Upon biting into the garlic bread it was obvious that the taste was Disgusting and matched its unappealing look so we returned the five baskets back to the kitchen to be rectified. When the garlic bread came back out there were only 3 baskets and we raised the issue only to be told it was because we had taken bites of some of the garlic bread pieces. Seriously pathetic of the kitchen staff to take that stance when their food was not up to scratch. We had to involve the front of kitchen manager who agreed to only charge for 3 baskets. Most decently managed restaurants would have probably said No Charge for the garlic bread as it was their mistake. Moving on to the Mains... the Veal Scallopini with creamy mushroom sauce had a lemon flavouring which totally destroyed the taste of the traditional creamy mushroom sauce, leaving the two people who shared the dish with upset stomachs all night. I truly don't understand why chefs mess with recipes in this mode. The order of Gnocchi with traditional Napoli sauce had raw garlic pieces and did not taste nice. It was left mostly uneaten as the taste was so unappealing. Having said all this I must say that the waitress that served our table was pleasant and understanding. However, although we have eaten at this establishment many times before it seems unlikely that we would return in the future. Kitchen staff really need to lift their game and the Head Chef needs to control the quality and taste of the...
Read moreWe recently held our celebration of life service (wake) for our loved one. At very short notice we were able to arrange the function room at the Olympic Hotel, Preston. We booked out the Silver room. We had been to one of the function rooms previously for a 18th Birthday and we really liked it. For our function the venue looked lovely, the Silver room is a very nice room and was setup perfectly, with black table cloths it looked so elegant. It had 5 tables setup for guests to rest and also had lots of lounges and arm chairs for guests. It has a large full service bar.
They had ample staff on the day to look after our 50 guests. They were very attentive and were always looking after our guests. I was really happy that they went out of their way to serve each and every guest more than once with the trays of food, coming back over and over to make sure the food was not wasted and guests were looked after.
We had so many of our family members comment how the food and the venue and the service was amazing and they did not expect it. Believe us when I say our family members are fussy so a great complement to the Olympic team.
The food was excellent and very tasty, it was hot and promptly served. We had an open bar and guests were also well serviced. The Salt and Pepper Calamari was not fake calamari and it was so tender, the arancini balls were also a hit. The olympic was able to accomodate two our guests with special dietary requirements and were not left out.
Big thank you to Adrian and his team for helping making a somber event a positive and enjoyable...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews like this, but last night’s experience at the Olympic Hotel in Preston was beyond disappointing — it was revolting. We arrived at 5:30pm and sat down for what we expected to be a nice meal. I ordered the lemon pepper calamari, and to my absolute horror, found a moth or some kind of bug buried in the dish. It made me feel sick to my stomach. We called the manager, Danny, over — he looked at it, took the plate without a single word of apology, and walked off. No concern. No remorse. Nothing. Just a cold, careless attitude. Only that one dish was refunded. After something like that, the entire meal should have been on the house.
My friend ordered the veal schnitzel and was given a seniors portion — despite never asking for one. When we questioned it, the waitress said she assumed my friend wanted the senior meal because they were “looking in that area” of the menu. Are you serious? That’s the logic you’re running with? Again — no apology, just more poor excuses.
The waitress also said they were “under the pump” — but there were barely 20 people in the entire venue. If that’s what overwhelmed looks like, then this place is in trouble.
The whole experience was a joke. The service was sloppy, the food was unhygienic, and the manager, Danny, set the tone for an appalling lack of professionalism and care.
Disgusted is an understatement. I wouldn’t go back if...
